Pop Singer-songwriter Belly Harding has been creating rhythmically upbeat soundscapes since 2000, after having a break from recording, the release of her single “Mi Amor” released on October 17th marks her return.
With her Congo roots, she’s injected a little more organic rhythm in Mi Amor than what you’ll find in a typical Pop single. there are also tonally rich elements of R&B Pop weaved into the mix. While we could definitely appreciate the nostalgic 90s Pop behind Mi Amor mixed in with the contemporary EDM beats, the single was slightly predictable.
And, there’s no denying that Belly Harding possesses strong vocals, but it was hard to feel that the lyrics actually contributed to the single given the amount of repetition of the title. Having said that, it’s still an incredibly catchy hit, which may just become your next earworm.
