“Backdoor” is the first single to be released by up and coming recording artist Jake Frost, if you’re looking for Pop ballad perfection, this is as close as it gets. As you listen to Jake’s vocals, it’s a little hard to believe that this is the first track he’s released, his expressively soulful style exudes a maturity which you’d usually only find with much more experienced artists. If that’s not a testament to raw, natural talent, I don’t know what is. As much as I enjoyed Backdoor, I can’t help but feel as though Jake played it a little too safe with his sound. The track has massive commercial potential thanks to the radio-ready sound quality and the irrefutable vocal talent of the singer songwriter and pianist yet, Backdoor didn’t quite resonate with me. I can’t wait to hear what Jake puts out in the future once he’s found his signature sound.
