Whilst the nerd in me was hoping an ode to George R R Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series, Estani’s soulfully soothing latest single provided a completely different all-consuming mesmeric experience.
The restraint-less lyricism served up a piece of the Singer Songwriter’s expressive soul, whilst her soaring, dynamic vocal range added even more weight to “Fire & Ice”. Kate Bush hasn’t had much in the way of vocal competition, yet Estani has proven with Fire & Ice that she’s more than a worthy adversary. The jazzy instrumentals carved out the grooves out of the warmly resonant progression of the irrefutably flawless track. Whilst there are plenty of nostalgic elements to the track, the contemporary ingenuity behind Estani’s approach to tonally decadent Pop remains palpable throughout.
