Considering that up and coming artist ELVAR created an entire album of viscerally mesmeric dreamscapes with his album “Daydreaming”, finding a standout track wasn’t an enviable task.
Yet “One of a Kind” proved to be exactly what it says on the tin. Unlike with most artists who are comparable to ELVAR’s style, the sense of melancholy isn’t all consuming in the gentle acoustic soundscape. Instead, there’s a sense of life, vibrancy, and bite.
Encapsulating the energy which flows from the natural melodies and softly sonorous vocal harmonies is no easy feat either. The Icelandic singer-songwriter finds the perfect balance between contemporary Indie, 90s Alt Indie, and 60s Pop. Not just by borrowing a few different elements but by constructing the entire arrangement around the atmospherics of the 90s, the infectious hype of the 60s along with brand-new intricacies and effect.
