More and more artists are bringing elements of Indie into the Hip Hop soundscape, but no many do so with the concordance which YXani conjured in one of his latest singles “And Again”.
The sticky-sweet synergistic mix kicks off with a mesmeric mellifluous guitar prelude before seamlessly switching into a downtempo Hip Hop mix which carries a sultry groove which is more heavily associated with the R&B genre.
While the use of vocal distortion may have been excessive in parts, there’s no denying that And Again along with the up and coming Columbia-based artist’s hits have commercial potential written all over them thanks to the solid structures and levels of harmony perceptible throughout. Of course, there was no forgetting YXani from his earlier release “At Night”; his distinctive style will ensure that he never falls into the category of ‘just another SoundCloud rapper’. His ability to make emotivity pour out of his tracks is almost unparalleled from what we’ve heard this year.
