TyC Is Back With Exciting Release “Look What You Made Me Do”

TyC is back with another exciting single and if All 2 Myself was a glorious slice of electro-rock, here we see him turn his sights onto more pop and R&B territory. Securing the services of Joselyn Rivera says something about the rising profile of this songwriter/producer and her sassy and modern vocals add  wonderfully fresh and “of the moment” dimensions to the song.

There is an intriguing staccato structure to the song, it trips and hops, bounces and bowls along but often does so in wonderfully strange time patterns yet never looses sight of its inherent groove whilst doing so.

And it is this combination of the conventional and the cutting edge that is really putting TyC on the musical map. Pop may come from a fairly obvious place, R&B is often predictable and electronic music is very often too “out there,” too left field in its quest to find a new sound. TyC has that rare ability to put them all in one place and find a beguiling, not to mention commercially viable, middle way. Neat!

Tyc’s Track ‘Now Or Later’ Has Something For Everyone

While it’s nice to get lost in an emotion or to experiment with an unfamiliar aesthetic, musicians know better than anyone that sometimes you need to be taken on more of a journey. TyC is an artist who can bring you from Point A to wherever you need, even a few places you may not know you need. Now Or Later is a song that starts with acknowledgments of longing. There’s no speed to it, no dance, no energetic expression, just a cool and calm explanation of sympathy. We’ve all needed a song like this before. TyC has other plans for us though.

When the chorus hits, the mood changes in a way that isn’t easily defined. Between the unpredictable beat, the almost tropical upbeat instrumentation and the soulful delivery of the vocals, Now Or Later passes the listener through a mixed crowd of different feelings. By the time you make it out to breathe in the next verse, the song is a completely different setting and the feeling is beyond oversimplified themes. At this point, it’s not about where we’re going or even where we are. This is a song that takes you for a ride and that’s more than enough reason to pump the volume and enjoy yourself. Featuring Sonny Step, this track has something for everyone.

TyC is excited to premiere his second single Get To Know Ya Feat. Nerose

In genres where beat-making is so strongly emphasized, it can sometimes be antithetical how homogenous the available beats are. So many drums sound the same and so many arrangements are made just like so many others. For anyone with fatigue towards generic beats, TyC has a new track just for you. Get To Know Ya is an invitation to get to know what music could be like if artists were willing to take more chances on current trends.

From the ground up, this track is unique. For starters, the percussion section is varied and never seems content to fall into a simple loop. Dancing above are samples that are inspiringly designed and masterfully mixed to make sure that an active listener has the option of getting lost while traversing the densely-layered mix. Luckily, we’ve got dual vocals that can lead you through vocoded lines and a myriad of melodic instruments in a playful and inviting manner.

The mood of this track isn’t as easy to grasp as one might think. The vibes definitely are positive and it’s easy to say it feels happy, but the word eager might be more appropriate. This song may not have enough low end to make a club bump, but it certainly has the mood you want to feel between dancing. Picture that person on the dancefloor. You can’t take your eyes off them. They smile back. You want to…well, get to know them.

TYC release dope new Single – All 2 Myself

It’s all about paying your dues and TyC has certainly done that. After establishing his name as part of the band Carousel he has spent the last few years honing his production skills and song writing craft by shadowing and working with a wide and diverse network of artists and labels. The time now felt right to put his own release out and ahead of the forthcoming ep, the track All 2 Myself acts as a musical teaser and calling card for what is to follow.

And it is an intriguing mix. The ghosts of eighties electro explorers loom large over the song for sure but the more immediate vibe is a slick and sunshine fuelled west coast dance vibe. Add to that big production values, innate pop infectiousness and a polished modernity to his approach and you have a song that not only knows where it comes from but also sure as hell knows where it is going.

It is a busy sound with rock guitars and pulsing bass lines blending effortlessly with the more usual dance-floor elements but through clever production and a careful approach to space, nothing is lost and even the subtlest of sounds has its moment in the spotlight. Now that’s value for money.
