I, The Ruin are set to make an unmissable debut with the Prog Indie Rock Single “Blossoms”

I, The Ruin

I, The Ruin are set to make their debut with the captivating Progressive Rock single “Blossoms”. The UK-based artist is already in high demand after receiving BBC airplay. With the way the single makes your jaw drop without any amount of grace or decorum when it hits you with its full momentum, there’s little room to wonder why.

Blossoms may kick off as an ambiently melodic work of Shoegaze Indie Rock. But the riotously progressive single crashes into a high-octane offering of Post-Rock complete with caustic screams and harsh Metal instrumentals. If I hadn’t spoiled the surprise, you never would have anticipated the violent and sharp evolution in the soundscape.

You’ll have to wait until January 24th to check out Blossoms for yourselves. You can pre-save the single here.

Halcyon Fields – Black Maps of Light: Intricately Arrestive Alt Rock

“Black Maps of Light” is the intricately arrestive latest single from up and coming Columbia, US Alt Rock artist Halcyon Fields.

There are very few ways to aptly allude to how much catharsis spills as you listen to the technical guitar progressions as they weave their way through the snappy unpredictable time signatures. But my own rhythmic pulses felt the relief to being handed over to the command of Black Maps of Light.

The momentum deftly ebbs and flows, but the immersive exhilaration of listening to a powerhouse carve a brand-new sound by using a smorgasbord of heavy vintage elements remains a constant. And if that weren’t enough, the lack of restraint in the vocals and the way the passionate artistic expression bleeds through brings yet another captivating element to Black Maps of Light.

Burning Windows – Tramp: Darkly Immersive Progressive Rock

While the latest track by Burning Windows “Tramp” kicks off as a doom-filled Progressive Rock anthem unfolding through lyricism so ominous that you’ll wonder if you’ve just been read the rights of passage into a Satanic cult there’s much more behind the intellectually-minded single.

As the track progresses, through the lyrics you’ll catch the elements of raw human emotion which drove Burning Windows to create such a darkly immersive soundscape. As much as you will appreciate the poetry of the lyrics, you’ll enjoy the sludgy, chunky guitar riffs even more as they wrap into an instrumental arrangement driven by pure restrained angst and get a sweet hit of instant aural catharsis. Even given the slightly Lo Fi production to the track, Tramp is still a promising hit which indicates a bright future for the up and coming powerhouse.

The Horizon Problem – Storm: The Track Changing the Definition of Progressive Rock

Any self-respecting audiophile who has a penchant for intricately soft instrumental progressions are going to want to check out The Horizon Problem’s track “Storm”.

If any band deserve to call themselves progressive, It’s the Horizon Problem, there’s almost the sense that they’ve covered every Alternative genre known to man in their momentous single. Fans of Prog Rock may have the ability to predict the progressions in many tracks, but Storm may just leave your jaw on the floor.

Kicking off with Nick Cave-style vocals to a light melodic indie single, Storm slowly amplifies in momentum into a heavier sound, with a complete twist in the lyrical style as you move into a more Rock-feeling anthem. Each switch up is even more immersive than the last. Especially the Mr Bungle-style Basslines which crash into aural chaos, leading into a more Pop Punk sound, before transgressing once more into a sound which would be more reminiscent of a mash up of Iron Maiden and Rage Against the Machine.

All of this is done without the track sounding like some poorly glued together medley, each move is natural. After you’ve been treated such a raw and energised sound, the track winds back down, with the vocals almost sounding as sweet as a serenade and the instrumentals a lullaby.

Early Life Forms – A How To: A Lo Fi Melodic Masterpiece from a Mindful Mastermind

Early Life Forms by Early Life Forms

A How To is a dreamily melodic track from Early Life Forms, an essential listen for fans of Lo Fi sounds that like to get lost in the landscapes of Progressive Rock Black Holes. Being a massive fan of bands such as Pavement, Wavves and the Libertines, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the track right from the first discord, their wobbly yet ethereal harmonies have the sweetest resonance behind them against the vocalists succinct Indie 00’s style. The Early Life Forms have to be the freshest new Lo Fi band on the scene today with their eclectic aesthetic and their no holds barred approach to creating uniquely sublime sounds. What gripped me most about the band is the vocalist and guitarists Dalai Lama level intelligence and wisdom, that once you read becomes tangible through the lyrics to their latest track A How To.

I can’t rate the band enough, so stop reading me fangirling all over the place and check out Early Life Forms new single A How To on Bandcamp:

Frantic Endeavor – 2+2: Girls To The Front

2+2 is the standout track from the debut EP by Frantic Endeavor in which the band incorporated a nostalgic sense of Pop Punk Clamour. As you’d expect the track is packed full of tight riffs and resonance along with an infinite offering of flawless drumrolls, to put it simply it’s a masterpiece of percussion fronted by female vocalist Lexie Lacock, who invokes a strong familiarity to singers such as Taylor Swift & Hayley Williams from Paramore. Yet as a whole, the sound that the talented collective of musicians has achieved is something like you’ve never heard before, each of the 6 musicians has a radically unique stance on their sound, the mix allows them to create the ultimate Post-Rock sound.

The Massachusetts based band Frantic Endeavor take their inspiration from acts such as Blind Revision, Among the Cypress & Summer Street to create their spell-binding, Progressive Rock sound.

ETCHES: Strumming Their Way To The Top

The days of storytelling may be a lost art, lyricism, and genuine songwriting may be all but extinct these days; and while we sit and scratch our heads over today’s music we have to ponder of what or who exactly is up next? Enter Etches’ and their single “Human Façade,” a strumatic instrumental with very little instrumentation but a very strong bassline. A pivotal story of sexual exploitation and the effects of being viscerally reactive versus proactive.

It’s a good track, actually it’s a great track with a somewhat skeletal bass that slowly rises to a climatic progression. The lead singer is impassioned and embodies a sound of true artistry; couple that with the musical score they have managed to create – and this may be one of the best culminations of simplistic sounds and musical elements I’ve heard in a long time. Their sound is progressive rock, psychedelic harmonies, and electro/pop bass lines and to be honest they remind me of a modern day, Tears for Fears. Their sound is infectious and can’t wait to hear more of the musical ear-gasm that for now we know as Etches.

Beni Mizrahi Releases Wonderfully Sophisticated Track ‘Soulversation’

Self taught, multi-instrumentalist Mizrahi is nothing less than a sonic dream weaver. Quite a bold statement but spend any amount of time in songs such as Soulversation and you are quickly transported to a place were velvet neo-soul vibes, dreamy post-folk and meandering, hazy progressive rock coalesce into the perfect balance of drifting psychedelia laced soundscapes and thoughtful, philosophical lyricism.

Soulversation is at once loose and yet wonderfully sophisticated, a balance that works so well because of the tasteful musical choices that Mizrahi makes. Even though there is a lot happening musically throughout the track, it is the perfect layering of these myriad musical textures, the fact that everything has room to feature and blossom but never steps on the other instruments toes, shows that his musical instinct is second to none.
