The London-based singer-songwriter and producer, Andrea, has staked her biggest claim in the UK pop industry to date with the release of her funk-dipped bass-swathed hit, All I Want, which was co-produced by the Grammy-award-winning Andre Lindal.

Even without the club remix, All I Want is a guaranteed floor-filler. You can practically feel the hedonism building around the drops and crescendos, which make Andrea’s latest single addictive from the first hit.

As if Andrea’s effortlessly arrestive vocals and synth-carved hooks weren’t enough, even more admiration can be found within the 20-year-old artist’s MO as a 100% independent artist. West London singer-songwriter and producer Kai Justine released the ultimate break-up playlist staple with Don’t Worry.

In her latest single, Don’t Worry, the West London singer, songwriter and producer Kai Justine proved that she has got exactly what it takes to be the next alt-pop icon.

The moody yet energetic beats may not be a sonic signature that you’re familiar with. Yet, with the RnB pop vocals super-charging the self-produced mix with emboldening soul, it is all too easy to get in the dancey groove with Don’t Worry. The chorus of “don’t worry about me, I ain’t thinking about you” bites into the liberation that sparks when a toxic dynamic finally becomes obsolete.

Destiny’s Child, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey are three muses that inspired Kai to tap into her talent; even though that influence rings through in Don’t Worry, it doesn’t override Kai’s autonomy. She is definitely one to watch.

With the sweet harmonic Beach Boys-style soul against the Saul Williams-Esque heavy beats, Valiancy’s latest alt-indie pop fix, Good Vibes, delivers what it says on the tin. Not through condescending euphoria peddling tropes, but through exuding nothing but transcendent soul that remains sympathetic to the reasons we need good vibes tracks in the first place.

The songwriter and producer orchestrated a soundscape unique enough to pique your interest and pull you in, yet experimentalism was notably secondary to ensuring that the infusion of harmonic pop vocals and ensnaring alt electro beats became a sure-fire hit of catharsis.

FiFi Zhang has released her ethereal anime-inspired art-pop single, Travel Through the Milky Way.

‘Travel Through the Milky Way’ is the bewitchingly hypnotic latest release by Shanghai-born and raised electro-pop visionary FiFi Zhang; its entrancing propensities aren’t to be underestimated. The single completely redefines dream pop with the pitch-perfect accordance that flows right through this entrancing downtempo mix.

The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, music producer and visual designer takes inspiration from the likes of Grimes, Faye Wong and Yaejj and her love of sci-fi and anime for her ethereal art-pop sound. As a massive dream pop fan, I just know that my playlist staples won’t feel the same after hearing how sweetly transcendent and artful the genre has the potential to be. It’s a game-changer.

Raw emotion meets emboldening euphoria in Andrea’s latest pop track; tell her that too.

London-based singer-songwriter and producer, Andrea, has released her seminal single; tell her that too, which explores unfulfilled promises and the ability for all words to lose meaning when they become a means to an end instead of an expression of truth.

The immensely powerful lyrics, “don’t tell me that you love me when you tell her that too”, extends the conversation around moving on from manipulation and infidelity. The only people that could conceivably hate this track are those left sick with guilt for the way it so innocently yet succinctly alludes to the pain caused by deception.

Despite the raw emotion projected into the 90s pop-inspired hit, Andrea still finds a way to bring emboldening euphoria to the listener.

daisan the coward – MPDG: Satire Pop Perfection

Indie pop artist and producer daisan the coward has turned his wit to satire after lyrically baring all across seven albums. The best introduction to his new satirical future pop style is his harsh electro hit, MPDG (Manic Pixie Dream Girl).

If it was a serious pop track about the female archetype, I probably couldn’t have held back from a scathing review. Given his performative embodiment of an arrogant pop star, the Kansas City-based artist can get away with just as much as John Grant and Alex Cameron. There’s something so incredibly refreshing about an artist using some of the more devilish facets of their creativity instead of being endlessly earnest. MDPG is pure escapism music. I think we can all agree that escapism is essential in 2021.

Kevan put a dark cinematic twist on Latin pop with his debut EP, Doors.

‘Doors’ is the debut EP from Italian producer and artist Kevan, who has been making more than waves with his evocative alternative tracks. There’s been a tectonic shift of talent on the airwaves since he started contributing to the airwaves 13 years ago.

The title single is a cinematically dark take on contemporary pop which finds room for rock and ambient trap and RnB elements to add to the dynamism. The lyrics feed the brand of frustration that only comes to fruition when you’re contending with an ending, and you’re transfixed by the past, unwilling to look to the future for fear of not seeing something you convinced yourself that you needed.

The way he shares a common experience is something. The way he expresses what words alone can’t has ironically left us speechless. We’re fairly sure that is how he ended up racking up nearly 1 million streams on Spotify alone with his standout single, Call Me.

TIBIBI proves that romanticism still thrives in dystopic times through her celestial ballad, Aura

‘Aura’ is the third confessionally passionate pop track from the alternative singer-songwriter, producer and engineer, TIBIBI. The dark and moody yet ethereally tender contemporary ballad spins a tale of loneliness and absolution through love. In a melodically powerful way, it reminds you that life is no fairy tale, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t wind up finding the salvation that you yearned for.

I can’t help admire how TIBIBI explored the fraught emotions as deeply as she delved into the euphoria of finally finding someone on your level. Aura is easily one of the sincerest songs that you will hear this year.

For his latest release, the up and coming London-based artist Doyle put his uplifting touch on the iconic track, Arms Around Me by Starley. By all accounts, Arms Around Me was the perfect summer dance-pop anthem before the remix, under Doyle’s melodic manipulation, the track started to emanate quintessential indie-pop vibes, making the lyrics even more intimate and the vocals infinitely more endearing.

With his debut album expected to drop in 2022, you should leave ample space on your radar for the bedroom artist and producer.
