DonnieCoupe has put their own spin on Old School Hip Hop with their single “Tomorrow”

DonnieCoupe’s playfully experimental approach to Old School Hip Hop in their recently released single “Tomorrow” is as refreshing as it is unforgettable.

Tomorrow kicks off with a unique take on Alicia Morton’s iconic track Tomorrow before progressing into a solid downtempo Jam with steady beats and an infusion of Jazz to amplify warmth of the mix.

While none of our tomorrow’s are going to be quite as lit or exciting as the hedonism which is contained in DonnieCoupe’s track for quite a while, it’s still a resolving track to sink into and soak up the soul.

Yet, DonnieCoupe does use his lyrical wit to serve a stark reminder that we’re never guaranteed today or tomorrow. Even in the midst of a pandemic that’s easy to forget. So, mortality reaffirming tracks which celebrate life such as this one will always be necessary on the airwaves and our playlists.

Don C – Living Alright featuring $togie Bryant

Living Alright is the oceanically hazy second single to be released from up and coming Hip Hop artist Don C which follows on from his debut single Life. He may have dropped the tempo in his second single, but the amount of soul and energy remains as a constant between the two releases.

Only after hearing the fresh new take on old school Hip Hop, did I realise how few humbly reflective Rap tracks are on the airwaves. The gratified introspective which is laid down in Living Alright is essential on the airwaves right now.

As the Rap bars run through the resonant lyrics, the Jazz-soaked warm, smooth beats create an ambient flow to give Living Alright a sunny cathartic feel. By bringing $togie Bryant in on the mix, Don C created a well-rounded mix which fans of contemporary Hip Hop and Old School alike will appreciate.

MC King Khan – Drama: High Vibe Hip Hop

MC King Khan went right back to old school with their latest drop “Drama”. We all know those people who thrive on drama and centre their lives around it. This track is the antidote to the frustration felt by people infatuated with drama.

The EDM Hip Hop beats pack a punch at the same time as allowing you to appreciate the chilled vibe of the mix. With lashings of bass within the light shimmering experimental mix, the track resonates as playful whilst losing none of the conviction or passion which Drama was born from.

And MC King Khan perceptibly didn’t hold back when it came to penning the wit-soaked Rap bars. You can practically feel the catharsis which they felt while writing Drama.

After making their debut in 2016, Cloudistrict has become a Hip Hop trio renowned for their gritty introspection, jarringly fresh beats, and ability to leave you arrested by their effortlessly fluid melodies.

Their latest single “Feel Alright” is definitely no exception. There’s plenty of lyrical conviction and a midtempo beat which makes the soundscape all too easy to slip into and appreciate the smooth grind of the Rap bars and harmonic vocals. Even though there’s plenty of modern stylistic touches in Feel Alright, there’s still a perceptible heavy influence from the 90s Hip Hop.

Feel Alright is the Pinnacle of contemporary Indie Hip Hop. So, it comes as no surprise that the Toronto-based artist has made plenty of waves in Canada and Internationally.

Hip Hop Rap Artist DopeAMean Has Made Their Debut with their Fiery Album “Blue Faces”

Hip Hop Rap artist DopeAMean has made their debut with one of the most energetic Hip Hop albums which we’ve heard this year. “Blue Faces” is a fiery feat consisting of 14 tracks which any fans of Jay Z, Kanye West, 50 Cent, and Dre will want to check out sooner rather than later as DopeAMean is perceptibly an artist on their way to the top of the genre.

With their insanely high-fire charisma, catchy hedonistic mantra-style lyrics, and the slight infusion of 90s Hip Hop into their contemporary anthemic sound, you’d be hard-pressed to find Hip Hop which packs the same punch as DopeAMean’s tracks.

From the first track to the last, Blue Faces is flawless, but the standout track has to be Gucci Bag Shawty.
