If Kate Bush started exploring R&B and Soul, I can imagine that the result wouldn’t be all too dissimilar from the latest single “Sweet Thang” from up and coming artist Lady Frequency.
As powerful and essential as Soul is as a genre, it’s incredibly rare to find this level of distinction. Yet, Lady Frequency is an artist who isn’t afraid to find new ways for R&B & Soul to resonate. Sweet Thang incorporates textures of contemporary electronica which will have you hooked into the mix right from the prelude as you listen to the intricate drum patterns leading the way through the cathartic single. Lady Frequency’s eclectic brand of Soul may still borrow plenty of elements from the past, but there’s no disputing that it is a sound which deserves space on contemporary airwaves.
