You know that feeling when you hit play on your favourite Deftones album and let the indulgently dark and swampy caustic guitars transport you to a state of aural catharsis? That’s exactly what you can expect from the London-based fourpiece Alt-Rock powerhouse The Lightness of Being through their latest single “Stay”.
While there’s a doom-laden ominous tonality to Stay, the intricacies found within the constantly evolving textures allow each progression to leave you a little more in awe of their ability to carve out hypnotically raw melodies.
I can hand on heart say that I’ve never heard a riff like the one that leads you to the outro, it’s essentially Flight of the Bumblebees on a fretboard. You’ll probably need some convincing to pick your jaw up from the floor during the relentless progressions. I know I did.
