US Rock

Orson’s Well delivered a smoky stormer with ‘Serve the Verve’.

Rather than serving up yet another archetypal slice of Sunset strip sleaze, USA’s Orson’s Well brought modernism to their raunchy grooves with their latest single, ‘Serve the Verve’.

With Blues weaving its way into the anthemic stormer, Serve the Verve comes with a guarantee that you’ll find yourself mesmerised by the scuzzy yet soaring guitar solos that affirm Orson’s Well are bringing the pinnacle of modern rock.

Serve the Verve is rooted in the past, but it taps into that contemporary need for abrasive smoky rock n roll orchestrated for the discerning rock fan in 2021. For any fans of Guns n’ Roses and Aerosmith, Orson’s Well is definitely worth a spot on your radar.

GLASS EYE – PRAYERS: Salaciously Ethereal Alt-Rock

GLASS EYE

With vocals that hit the high notes with the same precision as Matt Bellamy, the sex appeal of Deftones and classic rock licks that come with an ethereally evocative twist, it’s hard not to expect big things to come from GLASS EYE with the release of their album ‘SOMEWHERE, NOWHERE’.

PRAYERS is the perfect introduction to their sound that is so much more than an aural crumble of prominent bands that we’ve come to love across the decades. It’s a delectable invitation to witness the US-based powerhouse’s visceral authenticity that will appeal to anyone who likes their alt-rock to come with rhythmic salacious chills.

PRAYERS is just one of the singles that feature on their forthcoming album ‘SOMEWHERE, NOWHERE’, which is due for release on June 10th.

You can check out GLASS EYE via their website and on Instagram.

Tower Circle offer consolation that you’re unlikely to refuse in their rock track ‘Carry On’

Ahead of the release of their debut album, US-based alt-rock outfit, Tower Circle, have released the title-single to tease their superlatively authentic style which can crush you and put you back together in the space of four minutes.

Carry On is the kind of track that you’d expect to hear in a soundtrack when the tragedy in the plot reaches its torrid peak. The melancholy is just as much in overdrive as the guitars as the track gears towards the outro, only after the quiescent melodies compel you to lean into the soundscape deeper while the vocals offer consolation that you’re unlikely to refuse.

Carry On is one of those gorgeously rare singles that only allow you to realise how profound of an effect it has had on you when it has faded out. With their influences including everyone from Pearl Jam to Led Zeppelin to Bob Seger to Tom Petty, the commercial potential resounds in Tower Circle’s sound.

Carry On is now available to stream via YouTube.

One Man Electrical Band amped up the voltage with their politically-charged hard rock single ‘Sign of the Times’

One Man Electrical Band

One Man Electrical Band® (OMEB®) has been taking the Cincinnati music scene by storm since 2003 with his futuristic spin on classic hard rock. With his latest single ‘Sign of the Times’, he hooked up with rock royalty, Vinny Appice (drums) and Steve Stratton (bass) to create an eye-opening juggernaut of a single.

We all know those snobby rock musos, don’t we? The ones who will disagree with any rock made in the 21st-century, Sign of the Times puts those pretentiously-formed opinions to shame.

With an old school Sabbath touch to the vocals, layers of atmosphere akin to what you’d hear in a Ministry track and politically-charged awakening lyrics, Sign of the Times hits the spot in every way possible. One Man Electrical Band’s talent easily parallels the collaborative artist’s, given that Vinny Appice drummed for DIO and Sabbath, it’s no surprise that One Man Electrical Band has shared stages with Journey, Motley Crue and KISS.

On the basis of the guitar solo, Sign of the Times should probably come with an X-rating along with a 5-star rating.

John Fishell sends Trump on his way with his rhythmically furious Rock Hit “Namaste”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoysLBFdLgs&t=14s

On the same night as the world sat in anticipation of the US election results, I had the pleasure of hitting play on US Rock artist John Fishell’s viscerally fiery, rhythmically furious single “Namaste (On Your Way) which was written as a Rock n Roll send off for Donald Trump.

With clips on Trump’s most odious and ridiculous statements serving as the intro, Namaste is all too efficacious when it comes to making you feel the same contempt which John Fishell holds towards the negligent, pompous, president.

Everyone from fans of The Rolling Stones to fans of Rage Against Machine will enjoy this deeply cathartic feat of scuzzy anthemic America.

Amenazar smash through Rock archetypes with their dynamically provocative single “Lie to Me”

US Rock artist Amenazar saw their inception almost three decades ago but judging by the magnetism found in their latest single “Lie to Me” they’re just as valuable to the airwaves as they were when they made their debut.

The mark of any good artist is their ability to make you feel instead of listen. And my God, if any Rock artist had the capacity to tear my soul in two with the provocativeness of their sound, it’s Amenazar.

With Lie to Me, they found the perfect balance of sticky-sweet romantic sincerity and rock n roll intensity. But where they truly set themselves apart is through their ability to smash through classic rock archetypes. As great as Guns n Roses and Aerosmith are, we don’t need another act assimilating them. There was definitely no danger of Lie to Me resonating as assimilative with Amenazar’s tendency to pull influence from a wide array of influences, from Alt 90s, to Industrial Grunge to Classic Southern Rock, it’s all in there.

Hook into the grooves of Favor’s latest Psyche-infused Garage Rock track “Wishing at the Well”

Austin, TX Alt-Indie trio Favor’s recently released single “Wishing at the Well” is the taste-breaker that your Alt Indie playlists have been crying out for. The rhythmically captivating track simultaneously oozes sex appeal and commercial appeal. There really is no room to wonder why so many have been drawn to their massive yet intimate sound.

There’s a slight nod to 60s Psych and there are some elements of old-school Garage Rock thrown in for good measure. But with the dynamically-sonic appeal and the freshly alluring vernacular in the lyrics, Wishing at the Well offers all the distinction you need to confirm that Favor is one of the most authentic newcomers to the airwaves.

With their rhythmically raucous energy and their ability to make a strong connection with the listener – in spite of the DIY-style production, you don’t really need any more indicators that Favor is an Indie Rock trio well worth putting on your radar.

Songs for Sabotage give Peter Murphy a run for his money with their cover of Cuts You Up

Songs for Sabotage

LA Alt-Rock artist Songs for Sabotage cooked up the dreamiest feat of Rock you’ll hear in 2020 with their cover of Peter Murphy’s “Cuts You Up”. Which is just one of the soul-swellingly sweet tracks you’ll find on their debut album “Coast to Coast

With the infusion of Swedish Pop, 80s Alternative and 00s Electro in their lush Rock ensemble, once you hit play on Cuts You Up your entire consciousness is consumed by the escapism-aiding deftly orchestrated hit. Cuts You Up is the kind of track you need a recovery period after hearing as your rhythmic pulses become your own again and you adjust to being present in the real world. There really is no higher accolade than that. And that doesn’t even come close to capturing the sunset-strip-magic offered by the track.

Night of Joy releases on all major streaming platforms Friday, September 25th and SFS will be performing their album live in full via Instagram livestream on Saturday, September 26th.

You can pre-save the track on Spotify via this link.

Patchwork – “Black Hole”: College Radio Alt-Rock from Cincinatti

‘Black Hole’ is a bouncy, poppy alt-rock banger from the Cincinnati fourpiece Patchwork’s forthcoming album ‘Hive Mind’. A catchy, hooky ascending guitar riff that lodges inside your brain and doesn’t let go.

There’s an early Foos vibe to it, or maybe Queens Of The Stone Age if the Gin Blossoms’ Robin Wilson was singing lead vocals, but the overarching feel is a ‘Shame About Ray’-era Lemonheads. That’s no bad thing, it’s poppy without being throwaway, the vocal’s infectious and pushed to the fore, and the lyrics marry a certain world-weariness to the grungy guitar melody, but there’s some excellent musicianship going on too. This has got US-College Radio hit written all over it.

Florida’s Most Promising Alt Rock Act GREYE Have Dropped the Colossal Track “So Far So Good”

https://soundcloud.com/greye-2/so-far-so-good

Through dominating vocals atop of sultry Rock rhythms, Floridian Alt-Rock artist GREYE created an unforgettable release with their latest single “So Far So Good” which is the second track to be released from their upcoming album of the same title.

With the first single release grabbing the #1 spot on the World Indie Chart, it’s easy to expect big things for GREYE. Possibly even bigger than the anthemic sound they alchemically cooked up in So Far So Good.

The vocals find the perfect balance between ferocity and harmony, any fans of Joan Jett and later formed 90s Riot Grrrl artists will undoubtedly be bowled over by this colossal single.

With a powerhouse of instrumentalists laying down soaring riffs and laying the Wah on thick, So Far So Good has all the accessibility of Classic Rock, but underestimating GREYE’s distinctive talent would be a dangerous move.
