Proto-punk bites back in Underdog’s seminal punch-drunk alt-rock track, Over and Over

Over and Over (Northern Lights) is the seminal proto-punk track from Boston’s most boisterous alt-rock powerhouse, Underdog. It may be harder for new artists to register as obsession-worthy from the first hit, but the college radio rock vibes mixed with the lo-fi scuzz and energy that stems from the frustration that resounds around monotony makes a riotously magnetic track out of Over and Over.

Thankfully, the band that has been charting as the top alternative band in Boston since establishing in 2013 didn’t allow their creativity to buckle during the quarantine. Their album, Trans Global Amnesia, is due for release in the Spring of 2022. Any fans of the New York Dolls, The Heartbreakers and the Ramones will want Underdog on their radars – it is only a matter of time before their moniker becomes unfitting.

Celebrate your insanity with Bones Shake’s psychiatrically scuzzy latest single ‘Unwell’

Manchester’s most volatile purveyors of super-charged Garage Rock, Bones Shake, dropped their latest single ‘Unwell’ on November 13th. If you’ve been involved in a clandestine relationship with your insanity during lockdown, cast the shame away with this psychiatrically scuzzy aptly timed release.

You can practically smell the aseptic stench of institutionalised sickness behind the raucously electric production which tugs at the undying roots of Rock n Roll while sonically shifting the raucous tones into the 21st century.

I almost feel pity for neurotypicals who won’t get to gorge on the catharsis offered by the most electrifying release, to date, from the lauded Rock n Roll provocateurs.

It’s the perfect scuzzy Garage Rock playlist staple for those long and cold disquiet nights. It’s a far safer option than listening to The Smiths.

!n57.:.j.:.M: Di0nY5U5 is the recently released cinematically dystopian single by Brighton-based musician 8udDha bl0od. At least, that’s how it starts.

As the aural doom starts to clear, the ring of the distorted guitars gets sharper while the energy in the mix amplifies through the tribally percussive beats which start to manifest in the mix.

With !n57.:.j.:.M: Di0nY5U5, 8udDha bl0od proved that harsh discordant psychedelic scuzz has always had the capacity to be entrancing. Who knew?

No one does progressive tracks like 8udDha bl0od. No matter how many times we delve into his Machiavellian ingenuity, we’re always left psyched. Pun intended.

Chang – Old Rusty Car: Infectiously Scuzzy Garage Rock

Garage Rock musicians with a unique sense of humour and style will always be essential to the airwaves. But up and coming artist Chang is much more than your usual novelty band. Through their latest single “Old Rusty Car” which was released earlier this year, they have also proven themselves to be a powerhouse of rhythmic scuzzy talent.

There’s a beautiful charisma behind Old Rusty Car; if you could touch this track, you’d probably get a sticky hand. So, it’s safe to say that any fans of bands such as Eagles of Death Metal should definitely put Chang on their radar sooner rather than later.
