Angie Hakeem – Empire: The Female Rap Artist You Need on Your Playlists

Angie Hakeem picked up the slack left by the lack of female Hip Hop Rap artists with her first single “Empire”. With a unique approach to the genre she created an anthemically vibrant hit which won’t fail to leave you in awe of her lyrical ability. It was impossible not to get caught up in the lyrical hooks which were written into every verse as the up and coming artist stamped down her authority over a multi-layer intricate Trap beat. The amount of bounce behind the beat almost allowed Angie Hakeem’s sound to veer into the EDM Hip Hop arena, to say it was a refreshing change from the generically tinny rattle and kicks of the 808’s is an understatement. The contrast between Angie’s and the male Rap artist’s bars adds even more energy and momentum to her debut hit which was created with equal parts of charisma and curve-creating ingenuity.

Minx – Buy A Body: A Theatrically Urban Commentary of Misogyny

Given the history of female Rap artists, you’d think that they haven’t got all that much to say, which is why I was blown away to stumble across the enigma that is Minx. Her approach her music is nothing but notable, she uses her theatrical edge to create an urban commentary of misogyny and alludes to the disparity that women face in the 21st century. Usually, you’ll only find such sentimentality in the Riot Grrrl arena, yet with Minx’s latest track Buy a Body, she created a sensually urban, Jazz infused beat to lay her rhythmic bars upon which were ingeniously composed. With multiple mic drop moments riddled into Minx’s latest track which was released on March 9th, 2018, she proved that she’s not a force to be reckoned with, and I have no doubt she will leave her male counterparts shaking in their Nike Air Force.

Her sardonic approach forced me to declare an instant affinity for Minx and her feminist approach, that lets face it, for American’s living in Trump’s America her music isn’t just amiable, it’s essential. You can check out Minx’s sensational official music video to Buy a Body on YouTube now.

Midnight – Bout That Money: Unapologetically Authoritative Female Fronted Rap

I’ve found a new idol. It’s none other than one of the hottest female rappers in Jacksonville, Midnight. The domineeringly alluring Rap artist released her latest single Bout That Money at the start of 2018. I’ve honestly never heard a female Rap artist with so much attitude, she’s owning it.

Midnight’s unique lyrical grind around her high-tempo beats creates an immersive sound that you can’t help but getting caught up in. The lyricism may be a little simplistic, but that doesn’t detract from the veracity of her latest single Bout That Money. She uses the track to stamp down her authoritative style whilst injecting her sense of humour in the track. Her earth shatteringly unapologetic style will no doubt be leaving her male counterparts audibly quaking after they get a taste of Midnights refreshing approach to Rap.

For any fans of Missy Elliot and Lil’ Kim, you won’t want to miss the emerging artists fresh new unrivalled flavour.
