Washington pop singer-songwriter, Marilyn Hucek, advocates for solidarity in her latest single, Girls Girl.

Marilyn Hucek

To celebrate Women’s History Month in 2022, the Washington-based pop singer-songwriter Marilyn Hucek is set to release her emboldening EDM pop track, Girls Girl, which advocates for solidarity between women and forces toxic competitiveness into question.

You only need to look at selfies from popular Instagram accounts to know just how much energy is spent tearing each other apart – energy which could just as easily be used to build each other up. Girls Girl definitively proves how sweet solidarity can be; it was 100% written, performed, recorded and produced by a collective of aurally talented women to deliver a middle finger to the misogyny in the industry and any woman revelling in the downfall of another.

Unlike most of the pop tracks on the airwaves, nothing about Girls Girls feels plasticised. Every ounce of fiery intent in the vocals resonates organically and finds enough synergy with the dark pop instrumentals to make an earworm out of the single. Sonically, it is Peaches meets Gwen Stefani, but Hucek’s personality is vibrant in its matchless autonomy.

Girls Girl is due for official release on February 25th, 2022. Check out Marilyn Hucek via her website, Spotify, SoundCloud and Instagram.

Nikkita prescribes optimism in her debut EDM pop hit, Looking Up

From the suburbs of Perth, the breaking EDM pop artist, Nikkita delivered her internationally resonant synth-driven debut single, Looking Up. Usually, there is a compromise between evocative power and sonic momentum in the pop genre; Looking Up finds the perfect balance of optimistic vulnerability and sheer perennial pop earworm potential.

Debut releases don’t often come as euphoria-inducing as Looking Up, which uses dizzying crescendos and massive future bass breaks to remind you of the visceral sensation that comes as a consequence of finding the freedom in optimism. Yet, I do not doubt that Nikkita’s vocal timbre would be as enlivening in acapella. She has everything it takes to become the next big pop sensation; with plenty of material in the pipeline, she is one to watch.

Looking Up was officially released on January 28th; you can check it out for yourselves on SoundCloud.

Close to Monday – Kripko Spi: Transcendently Experimental Progressive Electronica

The indie breakthrough artist, Close to Monday, was one of the few artists that managed to garner international attention and affection in 2021. Based on their recently released EDM hit, Kripko Spi, Close to Monday’s success was one of the only things that made sense during our most recent perplexing trip around the sun.

With entrancing beats that would give Front 242, Covenant, and Skinny Puppy a run for their money towards the outro, it scarcely comes as a surprise that so many immersed themselves in Close to Monday’s sound that breaks the monocultural mould while creating a demurely alluring sensory experience.

With the 7-minute duration of Kripko Spi, the progressive single has plenty of time to transition from the ambience in the prelude to the dancey harsh beats. The vocals are minimalist, but every time they come to the surface, they’re nothing short of intoxicating.

Kripko Spi is now available to stream via Spotify.

Gard Read pops the perfectionist bubble in his anthemic indie pop debut, All We Can Do

Indie electro-pop artist Gard Read joined the swathes of artists making their debut in 2021 and scarcely left any commercial potential for the rest with ‘All We Can Do’.

While every faction of the media convinces you that you deserve nothing less than perfection while implanting unrealistic romantic ideals, Gard Read popped that naïve bubble with the reminder that Nobody is perfect. The stunning Slowdive-reminiscent guitars cushion the blow while the fiery production mimics the torrid state of mind  we enter when we contend with our insecurities and question if we’re worthy of affection.

Gard Read is right up there with Empathy Test for the way he can turn raw emotion into an anthemic hit that unifies through the resonance. If any track is going to convince you to embrace your imperfect autonomy, it’s All We Can Do.

All We Can Do is now available to stream on Spotify.

Sandra Grace has dropped her latest hyper-pop hit, Got 2B Famous.

Sandra Grace

‘Got 2B Famous’ is the latest flawless hyper pop track by the breaking artist Sandra Grace; the low growling bass guitar rumbles against the light, euphoria-instilled beats create the perfect platform for Grace’s effortlessly emotive vocals that pull you in from the very first vocal note.

With her arrestingly unique style, any and all pop icon reminiscence is fleeting. The Ukrainian-born, US-based singer-songwriter has been writing songs for a form of catharsis since the age of 13; discernibly, she had perfected the pop formula by the time she made her debut with her single, Hotel, in 2019.

Got 2B Famous will be available on all major platforms from November 5th. Check out Sandra Grace on her official website, Instagram and Facebook.

Lauren Nikohl brings the ‘Energy’ with her latest synth-pop hit

Indie pop singer-songwriter Lauren Nikohl has released her most commanding synth-pop single to date with ‘Energy‘, which carries the soul of disco and the cold cutting atmosphere of darkwave electronica. It’s an alchemic fusion of creatively contrasting tones, textures and emotions that brings exactly what it says on the tin.

The LA & Minneapolis-based artist has made waves with her introspectively deep lyrics and robust vocal timbre that will be a hit with any progressive pop fan. With a debut album in the works, there has never been a better time to find a spot on your radar for Lauren Nikohl, who has exactly what it takes to reach the same heights as Empathy Test, Mesh, and VNV Nation.

Energy officially released on September 24th; you can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.

Niadomi has released her theatrical, hyper pop single, The Beast and the Grind.

Just when I was starting to think that I had heard it all, alternative artist Niadomi appeared on our radar with her theatrical, hyper pop single, The Beast and the Grind.

With her operatic vocals that verse fantastical, poetic lyrics meeting the happy hardcore-style beats, I now know how Emilie Autumn would sound if Dune remixed one of her archaically fierce singles. The Beast and the Grind may not be your average earworm, but that doesn’t remove its infectious potential; you can’t help being hyped by the aural presence of Niadomi. We can’t wait to hear what follows this seminal release.

Wyldher has released her sophomore summer dream-pop single, Sunsets + Smoke

Sunsets + Smoke is the latest trippy dream-pop track from the breaking artist Wyldher; her relatability could easily make her a major part of pop history. Her imploringly sweet vocals are a seamless fit with the sun-soaked melodies as the lyrics yearn to go back to the start to the start of a relationship that burned out too fast.

With the same girl next door vibes as Taylor Swift, the electronic ingenuity of Eilish and the sonic quality of Avicii in her chill hop style, Wyldher hasn’t failed to make an impression since making her debut earlier this year with the release of her debut single, Time Machine.

Jamskillet has released his intoxicatingly authentic alt-pop track, Waterfalls.

If you’re sick of superficial love songs, strap yourselves in for the impassioned sincerity in Jamskillet’s latest alt-pop track, Waterfalls.

On the basis of Waterfalls, Jamskillet has the talent it takes to reach the same heights as Mac Miller and Post Malone; his intoxicatingly authentic mash of urban and alternative elements resonates like no other. Thanks to the striking lyricism, intricate cold guitar hooks and dark trappy beats, you’d need a serious concussion to forget the earworm of a melody in Waterfalls.

Constellation Prize bring the grooves in their bassy electro-pop hit, Chase That High.

Constellation Prize

UK-based dance-pop duo Constellation Prize is set to drop their most euphoric release to date, Chase That High; the endlessly energetic anthem will seal a spot on your summer pop playlists before the hooky chorus even hits.

With slightly filthier basslines than you would expect from your average future pop track, Chase That High is adrenalizing from start to finish. Perhaps most notably, the artist brings serious swathes of style to the high-vibe pop anthem. All too often, feel-good tracks fall into the trite and cliché trap, but Constellation Prize is nothing if not refreshing and organic in their electro-pop style that modernises 80s – 00s dance-pop grooves.

Chase That High is due for release on July 30th. You can check out Constellation Prize on SoundCloud.
