Find your inner strength with Charlie Hay’s piano-pop ballad ‘Truth’

Charlie Hay’s latest single ‘Truth’ is a timely addition to the airwaves, in a time of uncertainty, the semi-orchestral piano pop ballad is an empowering affirmation that any change needs to happen from within.

The lyrics unravel as a series of perception-shifting mantras versed through vocals which carry a touch of Daughter and Adele while the instrumentals boast timeless gravitas.

Truth smashes the misconception that guidance, validation and support are best found externally. It’s a powerful reminder that your mood and outlook on life doesn’t have to depend on the news.

Truth is a stunning single, in every possible way, the efficaciousness of the evocative instrumentals, the meta poetry in the lyrics, and the LA-based Swedish singer-songwriter’s vocals which could easily see her top the charts.

Truth was officially released on March 15th. You can hear it for yourselves via Soundcloud.

Take a hit on pop singer-songwriter Veronika Utri’s ‘Cigarette’

With a style heavily influenced by Tom Odell, Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne, Austria-born, London-based singer songwriter, Veronika Utri’s, sound offers tender intimacy, cinematic imagery and a magnetic spike of attitude.

The warm embracing tones in the standout single ‘Cigarette’ will undoubtedly be of appeal to anyone else dealing with the emotional fallout from unsated romantic cravings. The soul in the vocals is just as addictive as the substance which shares the name of the dreamy single.

With her accessible ‘girl next door’ vibe and evocatively brave lyricism, it’s hard not to anticipate big things in the immediate future for Veronika Utri.

Cigarette is available to stream via SoundCloud.

Bermuda Angels Release Stunning Single ‘On The Run’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFYmgwsxOkY

Besides their enticing and enigmatic moniker, Bermuda Angels have a lot to offer to their audience. Their recent single, “On The Run”, is a perfect example of how they managed to create stunning, direct and inspiring sounds that blur the lines between various genres, including indie pop and electronic music.

One of the first elements in this mix that truly grabbed my attention was definitely the great drum machine sound. The tone of the beat feels really powerful and huge, but it never overpowers the mix. On the other hand, it feels balanced and direct, perfectly aligned with the song’s structure and acting as a great backdrop for all the other elements in the mix, including the masterfully executed vocals and the great synth sounds.

The song makes me think of the work of artists such as James Blake, Daughter or Florence and The Machine. The brooding textures and intricate beat patterns create a stunning musical contrast, as darkness and light chase each other in a stunning dance through sound.

Lady Katherine’s Dream-pop Track ‘Harmony’

If musical genres such as shoegaze and dream-pop can sometimes be seen as elitist areas defended by earnest, serious music fans looking down their noses at pop music’s more transient and throwaway nature, then Lady Katherine is the bridge that connects the two camps. Harmony is the perfect blend of lush soundscaping and addictive pop; it has all the beat and sass of the latter but also the lush, shimmering trappings of the former.

Harmony is as concerned with textures as it is structures and it is this meeting of sonic beauty and pop groove that has created this wonderful reconciliation between the two musical worlds. I don’t think anyone was expecting that!

Lady Katherine’s ‘Take your time’ is a sweet!

Take your time is a sweet, mellow and soft-spoken single by singer/songwriter Lady Katherine. Her warm voice and mellow production aesthetics make me think of the work of influential performers such as Dido, Imogen Heap or Daughter.

This song gently unfolds, revealing more layers and elements as the track moves forward. Initially, the song creates a nice, minimal texture just by blending piano and vocals – later, however, the fabric of the song is augmented with tasteful electric guitar melodies. There aren’t many notes, but the notes that are there are extremely powerful, with some beautiful reverb and delay effects. I love the sound of the drums, particularly the snare tone, which is fat, powerful and driven, truly helping sustain the rhythm and the groove.

The lyrics to the song are melancholic, romantic and gentle, with a rather introspective touch. I love how this song explores various sonic elements, ranging from pop to rock, alternative and even post rock.

This is a truly interesting single from an artists who reveals a multifaceted personality and a stunning approach to songwriting and production. Can’t wait to hear more!
