Southern Rap artist Supabossanova’s latest single “New Trend” goes deeper than any Hip Hop track which tries to give the listener Gucci and Hennessey envy.
Hip Hop artists have been fooling us for decades that they’re somehow exempt from the fact many artists need to go through the starving artist phase before they make it – if it wasn’t old in the 80s, it definitely is now. Yet, refreshingly, “New Trend” is a humbling track in which Supabossanova pours in plenty of gratitude around the simple yet effectively rhythmic beats. The track may only be short and sweet, but a two-minute duration was long enough for Supabossanova to spill out their soul and allow New Trend to serve as a view into their evolution as an artist.
