When it comes to contemporary Pop, it’s not all too often the word ‘captivating’ would come to mind, yet Neill Maclean has created a soundscape which borders on celestial with his debut single “Headstrong”. Neill Maclean infused archaic orchestral layers into his single which serve as the perfect platform for his magnetically diverse vocals which switch between deep velvety reverberance to poised harmonics.
Even though Headstrong was evenly paced and seamlessly progressive throughout the duration, it was a shame to only be indulged in the aural catharsis for two minutes. Yet for a debut single to leave you so insatiable for the next, it doesn’t really get better than that.
