Davie O’Dell – ‘Paradise Island’

If some music is about the quick hit, the blast of energy, the soundtrack to get you in the mood as you get ready for a night out on the town, Paradise Island sits at the other end of the spectrum. This is the sound of the chilled early hours, the wind down, the last chapter of an eventful night before you finally succumb to sleep. It is built on beat and vocals and little else, which makes it all the more hypnotic as it winds its way slowly onwards inducing a meditative state or at least happy reflections on a night well spent.

They say less is more, it may be a cliché, but clichés are clichés because they are based in truth and this track certainly shows you that it takes very little to set the mood when you know what you are doing.
