Thomas Eggensberger explores the ‘Forgotten Universe’ in his latest cinematic score.

LA-based German composer, orchestrator and songwriter Thomas Eggensberger has composed for film, television, concert music and collaborative art; his accolades are endless and his latest score, ‘Forgotten Universe’, is sure to earn him plenty more.

Forgotten Universe exhibits all of the hallmarks of talent that you would expect from an artist that has toured globally and worked with high-profile names, including Wayne Sharp, Tom Howe and plenty more. But the emotion that bleeds from the wavering orchestral strings in the cinematically profound instrumental score is anything but predictable. The composer made light work of ensuring that by the time you reach the end of this bitter-sweet serenade, your rhythmic pulses will feel at a loss with the silence that follows.

Forgotten Universe is now available to stream via YouTube.

Icelandic alt-rock 5-piece Atomic Annie orchestrated a sonically frenetic hit with ‘What If?’

Atomic Annie’s latest scuzzed-up alt-rock track, ‘What If?’ matches the fervent chaos of Rage Against the Machine and exudes all of the salacious appeal of The Velvet Underground. The Icelandic 5-piece’s sonic twist on hard rock is easily one of the best Independent rock releases of 2021; the energy is enough to take the soundscape off this stratosphere.

With the level of sex appeal cranked up to 11 to match the dial on the over-driven fuzzy guitars that sear through arresting solos that make Slash sound sedate, this fuzz-rock anthem deserves to go viral.

Atomic Annie is clearly one of the most promising up and coming alt-rock outfits contributing to the airwaves in 2021. They’ve got the talent and finesse to appease the classic rock snobs and a veraciously eclectic feel to draw in any fans of that unparalleled feeling of hearing a sound for the first time and being welcomed to a brand-new tumultuous aural world.

Earth Stone take time out with ‘Adi Shakti’

Earth Stone are Gemma Stone and Anthony Noiosi, a husband and wife duo with a World Music love and chilled, mellow, vibes.

Adi Shakti – from their Yoga-inspired new album – see’s Stone singing an Indian Sanskritt yoga mantra over electronic drum patterns and some soaring, melodic guitar work. It’s a mix of the traditional and the modern, mixing rock stylings, traditional, folk, world music, and gentle relaxation tranquillity. It’s a beautiful, gently uplifting piece, a perfect antidote to the hectic pace of modernity.

Andi Reisner – dark espionage with ‘Die Zwei Brüder’

Soundtrax by Andi Reisner

Composer Andi Reisner was born in Köln in Germany in 1960, and currently has over forty television and movie soundtrack pieces to his name, alongside his founding-membership of new music ensemble Ugly Culture.

With ‘Die Zwei Brüder’, he’s delivered a powerful, disturbing instrumental neo-classical work which evokes images of film noir, monochrome spy thrillers, all rain-soaked streets and cold-war double-dealings. Dark, brooding, Bauhaus-inspired, and filled with impending-doom, echoing and sparse then fierce, distorted and upfront, Die Zwei Brüder – from Reisner’s ‘Soundtrax’ album – is potent, unsettling, challenging, and totally captivating. Inspired, disconcerting, stimulating, and provocative, ‘Die Zwei Brüder’ is quite simply an epic piece of instrumental noir.

You can hear Andi Reisner’s ‘Soundtrax’ album on BandCamp; check out Andi Reisner’s website here.

WALLIS featuring the Schriver Sisters – Another Day: Film Noir Dance Pop

With one viral hit under her belt, up and coming artist WALLIS is trying for another with the release of her latest single, Another Day, featuring the Schriver sisters.

The Philadelphia-hailing 16-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist pulled in some big names for Another Day. With Steve Sigmund on Trombone (Ray Charles), Julio Hernandez (Barry Gibbs) on bass and the Grammy-award-winning engineer Carlos Alvarez working on the alt-indie dance-pop track, it comes as no surprise that it is just as mesmerising as a Warpaint or Black Honey single.

With a film noir feel to the verses, and plenty of soulful funk thrown in for good measure if WALLS had reworked Dusty Springfield’s You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me it would have unravelled in a similarly vibrant and utterly ingenious way as Another Day.

Another Day is due for release on June 25th. You can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.
