There’s something wonderfully raw and organic about Carla Stark’s latest single Start Starting. Whilst I was bowled over by the lyricism and the sentiment behind her music, I couldn’t help feel that the music didn’t quite fit or do Carla’s style justice. Carla Stark’s earthy yet smooth approach to her vocals didn’t seem to sit synergistically against the up-vibe jazz beat. There was such a strong message within the track, yet it pains me to say that instrumentally the track meandered into a cheesy territory and became a little distracting as you tried to envelop yourself within the empoweringly uplifting vibes exuded by the up and coming artist. That being said, the quintessentially styled Belgian Pop singer song writer undoubtedly has her own approach to sound which you can’t deny is a refreshing change from the plasticity of mainstream contemporary Pop.
Carla Stark’s much anticipated next release is her studio album Karma which will be available to stream and download across all major platforms from May 29th, 2018.
