The Seawolf’s ‘Ginnungagap’ is a masterful EP with ambient lo-fi to ease the pain

The Seawolf is a Scandinavian eerie lo-fi with a new lo-vi sound that is like no other. The new EP ‘Ginnungagap‘ is such an exhilarating piece of music, it will change your perspective on life with it’s mysterious sounds that have Nordic heritage for us to learn.

Eerie and ethereal, ‘Ginnungagap‘ is the debut EP to come from ambient low-fi artist The Seawolf. Styling his music as ‘low-vi’, an unusual mix of low-fi and viking/norse folk music. The Seawolf collaborated with Jósúa Rood and celebrated folk artist Runahild on this EP, as well as experts on the field of Norse mythology and Viking traditions. Forced into a creative space by the lockdown in LA, The Seawolf shows how life can spring out of the darkest places, and hopes that this resonates with his listeners. He certainly achieves this goal here, this is a gem.

Having previously released three singles, ‘Ginnungagap‘ is The Seawolf’s debut EP and this one is real quality. The first five songs had me in deep and and the nordic lo-vi is exactly what I needed to hear today.

Estonian singer/rapper PK drops video for ”I think the asphalt hates me”

Based in Tallinn, Estonia-Joosep Vau aka PK (PKestonia)- has just slashed the tires with ”I think the asphalt hates me”. This new track is the lead song off his new album ”dress sexy at my funeral” which is slated for a 22nd June release.

This is an OG in the Estonian rap game as he has been rocking the mic since 2004. He flows effortlessly and his songs have meaning. I’m worried about PK’s mindset at the moment as he seems really down with himself. I’m picking up some heartbreak here and I hope he can recover from this with good friends around.

Music does heal so by expressing himself through his art I believe that we can all grow together. ”I think the asphalt hates me” is a song like no other and this Estonian rap star has made his mark on 2020. He has loyal support and is one of the top emcees in Scandinavia. Let’s hope that he can build from this and get out of his own head as soon as possible. To fully flourish we need to be clear mentally.

A&R Factory Present: Ruby Empress

Having already amassed 500K plays on Soundcloud, Ruby Empress, with their brand of Scandinavian indie pop, are clearly building up quite the following.

Ahead of the release of the band’s 6-track EP Empressionism out later this week, Ruby Empress have treated fans to a piece of synth pop perfection with their latest offering; Escapism Deluxe.

The track boasts a truly bountiful production. Piecing together elements of electronica, synth and pop behind a thumping baseline probably sounds like a lot all happening at once, but Tom Serner’s light vocals work brilliantly against the amalgamation of sounds.

The song kicks off bubbling under the surface to only then erupt into full-blown euphoria. It may feel like you’re being transported to another world, but you want to stick around to see where else this song can take you.

In the past few years Sweden has really been at the forefront of producing excellently crafted pop songs and stars. With the likes of Tove Lo and Zara Larsson already establishing themselves as ones to watch, Ruby Empress can now be added to the list of Scandinavian acts showing the rest of the world how to do pop properly.
