FivebyFive Interview: Being wonderfully weird on their latest album Killing Time

FivebyFive were kind enough to sit down with us and chat about their new album called Killing Time. Packed with honesty and so much insight, this is a must-read because of its inspiring tone and urging for humanity to never give up.

We are super excited to slice it up with you music-wise FivebyFive and thank you for making the time today. Hip Hop, Rock and loads of Daddy issues are written on your IG page. How do you fuse these three superpowers together into your music so well?

I wish I could say were bitten by a radioactive spider. But it truly comes from the feeling of never being good enough. Everyone has had someone that has made them feel like they’d never amount to anything. And thanks to artist like Eminem, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, we grew and overcame the doubt. Now we live our lives our way and want to reach anyone who thinks they aren’t good enough and help them realize they are and that it’s not silly or too late to chase dreams.

Killing Time is your latest full release. What was the vision behind the project and who was involved?

We knew our first EP ‘The Eulogy’ was written with a heavy/serious tone, but we wanted to showcase some of our weird/fun personalities. Killing Time gave us an opportunity to experiment and try new sounds and get a little weird.

Is there a song on the new release that gets the biggest cheer when jammed live?

Our first single ‘We Will’ always seems to go over well!

All your tracks certainly pack a punch and lyrically everything is extremely real. Who do you make music for?

We make it for ourselves as an outlet for what’s going on in our heads, but also hope it helps others going through their tough times.

Where are the best spots to currently watch underground bands shred live in Columbus, Ohio?

Our current favorite venues to see others and play at has got to be Rumba Cafe and Madison theater rooftop. Not too small, decent sound and an amazing environment for an intimate performance.

Do you have any crazy tour stories that you can share with us?

Only crazy thing to happen so far would be showing up to the venue and them not knowing we were coming, being told there’s no music being played that night and then deciding hell with it and settled up in front of the door and played our set anyways.

Can we catch you live anywhere soon or do you have any events on the horizon in 2023?

We have a cancer benefit on 11/19 at Stephen’s lounge in Marysville and then we head to The Outpost in Kent on 11/28 to play with our dudes in Dropout Kings! Our next local show is at Rumba Cafe on 1/28!

Listen up to this likeable band on Spotify. Follow the missions on IG.

Plenty Of Time: Mr. Memory sees that scary look in her eyes on ‘She’s Got A Death Ray’

As covid ironically brought them back together as they had much more time on their hands than before, Mr. Memory have their hands full with a toxic woman who is full of love but can also strike you down with her scary superpowers on ‘She’s Got A Death Ray‘.

Mr. Memory is an experienced 3-piece alt-rock band from New York City, USA. They make a world class blend of incredible music melodies for the ears to fully enjoy, due to their smartly-penned lyrics, confident soundscape and terrific vocals.

Written and recorded solely during the COVID pandemic by singer Mike Aronow, musician Jeff Walsh and drummer Andy Fligel. All 3 were John Lennon Songwriting Award winners in their previous band from the early 2000’s, Endgames.” ~ Mr. Memory

Packed full like a tasty peanut butter and jelly sandwich, there is much to munch greedily into on this quality new single. The ambiance is totally honest, things are so catchy, fresh and filled with a lip-licking flavor of intent, that keeps you turning this up to the max.

She’s Got A Death Ray‘ from the New York City-based alt-rock act Mr. Memory, is a fantastically projected track that simmers just right into your esurient soul. There is so much to lap hungrily into from a social media-less and no-frills outfit, who just want their music to be appreciated.

Good music is just meant to be loved after all, not judged.

Hear this top notch new single on Soundcloud.

Superhoe flies in and drops saucy ‘The Official Adventures of Superhoe’

Comic Rapper Superhoe is here to entertain and does exactly that on the saucy ‘The Official Adventures of Superhoe‘.

Raised on the seductive island of Miami Beach in the USA, enterprising stripper Hollie Ween’s life was forever changed when she blessed an ancient wizard a mind-blowing lap dance on Halloween night. The drunken sorcerer was so pleased, he gifted Hollie with a magic gold amulet and instructed her to say the name Superhoe. Hollie was struck by a sudden bolt of freak energy and transformed into the Hottest Rapper In The Multiverse—Superhoe! In her magically empowered form, Superhoe is virtually indestructible, able to fly and can generate magic spells that enhance desire and sexual pleasure. With her new superpowers, Hollie’s entrepreneurial mind went into overdrive.

Superheroes can’t fight crime and save lives around the clock. Sometimes they need a place to go to get away from it all, a place where they can relax and do the things they want to do. In the entire Multiverse, that place is the secret hideout Superhoe’s. An ultra-exclusive lounge and high-energy nightclub, Superhoe’s lavish decor, dynamic lighting, and striking architecture, offers its guests a hedonistic entertainment experience unsurpassed in this universe or beyond.

This is a comic Hip Hop track that is a tremendous listen. This is something that I have never heard before. Hollie’s rap skills are fiery and fast. She styles in with a raspy flow that is fantastic to hear. Superhoe rips in with ‘The Official Adventures of Superhoe‘ and this fires an arrow into the rap game. A different song and an interesting twist into the comic rap world.
