David Adonis – Safe Distance: A Guide to Dating in the Digital Age

David Adonis allowed the airwaves to keep up with the digital evolution of romanticism with their latest single “Safe Distance”.

Safe Distance breaks the monocultural mould with rhythmically seductive melodies cooked up through an infusion of RnB, Pop and Afro Beats. But much more importantly, David Adonis served an all-important reminder through the resonant lyrics that love and romanticism are still persevere-able.

In a few years from now, tracks like Safe Distance will serve as a memento from the time we globally, simultaneously experienced love displaying resilience against the hate and chaos 2020 thew at us.

We may have a more limited way of connecting, but you can almost feel the fizz of passion between two people locked in amorous fixation when listening to the smooth grooves in David Adonis’ soulfully seductive Afro Beat single.

Benji and the Saltwater Sound System return spiritually with ‘Lights and Smoke’

Benji and the Saltwater Sound System are an Australian based group that have returned with their new soulfully indie song called ‘Lights and Smoke‘.

Benji and the Saltwater Sound System draws upon African Folk, Reggae and Islander Folk to create hypnotic soundscapes that are so pure and beautiful. The vibe is peaceful, the guitar tropical and the vocals island-like. The band is inspired by Benji’s recent immersion in islander flavors after his stay on the Solomon Islands. The sound is fused with the reggae and African roots of its members past musical projects to create hypnotic soundscapes underpinned by catchy melodies.

There is wonderful indie, pop and folk influences here mixed with stunning cello. ‘Lights and Smoke‘ is a lovely song that is perfect for a road trip song with lots of soul and real lyrics that shows how quality this group is. With slots on huge festival lineups already, this is a group to watch when music venues are open again.

‘Lights and Smoke’ is the third single to be released from the much anticipated upcoming Benji and the Saltwater Sound System EP, ‘Ripples of Thunder’ and this is a stunning song that ticks all the music boxes. This is a song that flows through into your ears and you just want to listen again and again.

Kofi Jamar & Stonebwoy join forces like a world cup winning team on their new track ”Mi Dey Up” remix. This is Dancehall/Reggae music with soul and they win the day with the new release.

Derrick Osei Kuffour Prempeh aka Kofi Jamar is a Ghanaian rapper, singer and a songwriter from Bantama, Kumasi. Kofi first gained major recognition when he won a freestyle rap competition when he was just 18 years old.

Livingstone Etse Satekla aka Stonebwoy is a 45-time award winning Ghanaian Afro-Pop, Dancehall/Reggae artist as well as a Grammy Nominee. He hails from Accra in Ghana where he is one of the most popular artists in the whole of Africa.

”Mi Dey Up” remix is a quality song about working hard so you can see more glory and make your dreams comes true. These two have done all they can to get out of the financial situation that they were in. Kofi Jamar & Stonebwoy aim to inspire the youth and show them that you can achieve your goals with desire and putting those hours in.

Australia’s April And The Drift deliver illuminating jazzy-reggae 2020 soundtrack with ”Garbage Rules”

April And The Drift is a spellbinding singer-songwriter with a life long dedication to elevating her majestic music skill set and the results are gift wrapped with delicious jazzy blues reggae treats. The songwriter who was born and raised in Copenhagen is so honest and showcases her voice splendidly here. Teaming up with multi-talented lead guitarist and pianist Fidel Carmona, the duo primarily go the organic route. They utilize natural instruments that slide straight through your sensitive soul.

With a horror theme park sound to begin this masterpiece- this marks the year that is 2020. Unfortunately garbage leadership is holding back the world right now and the stench is quite horrifying. Luckily April And The Drift send through a jazzy-reggae and soul-pleasing song to make us all happy inside our weary brains.

April’s sultry, sensual but always classy vocals mixed with the ska reggae vibes adds a shoulder hugging song that rises above all pettiness on ”Garbage Rules”.

This is a marvelous soundtrack that keep your energy up with lots to think about. Australian based April And The Drift highly impress here and this is one of the best songs of the year by far. Rubbish dominates right now but times are changing. Mount Glorious is how high this sound elevates me.

Subject 72 have released single Mad: A funky bit of Reggae infused with the loud and chaotic Rock element

The duo Subject 72 have released their most recent piece ‘Mad’, a rather diverse choice of genres as they incorporate Reggae with Punk Rock.

Pulling many similarities from bands such as Sum 41, bringing in that lively up-beat drum solo, hitting against the snare and clashing against the cymbal. Using a funky tune giving it a mixture of Reggae sounds to go through the overall Rock style of the track.

Having that more raucous tone, it’s deep and tends to stay at the same minimum volume, this piece is nothing crazy, it’s very mellow even when the instrumentation comes in. Intertwining the voice in with the hardcore drum beats, then towards the end, the electrifying guitar shreds come in to bring the song to its end.

Now that summer is once again around the corner, it’s time to start reintroducing equally as tropical tracks to our playlists, and summer anthems don’t get much hotter than Empaquetao. The Reggaeton beats in Empaquetao may be contemporary and fresh, but the arrestive potency of the exotic rhythms remains. Unilingual minds may not be able to decipher the lyrics, but the grooves in the melodies are universally arrestive.

You may have heard many different variations of The James Bond theme No Time to Die. But, it’s safe to say it has never been as vibrant or as exotic as Harmonical’s uniquely sensuous Reggae reimagining.

Harmonical teamed up with Elan Noelle to create the sun-soaked energetic hit which will allow you to forget to search for similarities in the original. Instead, the warmth which radiates from the instrumentals and the soul which seeps from the vocals combine to offer a rhythmically rapturous soundscape which Harmonical undoubtedly made her own.

Each track we hear from Harmonical affirms just how much talent she harnesses when it comes to emotive, deftly constructed harmonic earworms. As ever, we’re excited to hear what comes next.

Theo Mawali releases ‘We Walk’: From Reggae to Rap

Reggae, Hip-Hop, DanceHall and Rap all intertwine together to create Theo Mawalis new single ‘We Walk’.

Quite a mixture of genres for artist Theo but he manages to combine them all in an amazing way. Your taken on this journey through different ranges and vocal tones.

At the start the Reggae elements shine through, the rhythm is mellow and soft, but then as you pass the middle the sound completely turns and is solidly just Rap, it keeps swerving in and out of them two sounds, but even though they do sound distinctive genres it still works perfectly.

Theo Mawali is one to check out if you’re into the combination of Reggae and Rap or perhaps it’s something that you’ve never embarked on before, it’s definitely worth delving into for sure.

Jahmore – Universe: Tropically Sonic Afro Dancehall Rhythms

“Universe” is the standout hit from up and coming Manchester-based duo Jahmore which catapulted the evolution of Reggae Dancehall in a brand-new direction. And I can quite honestly say that I’ve never come across a more pioneeringly blistering sun-kissed offering of contemporary Dancehall.

Distinction lies at the heart of the insanely momentous mix which will take charge of your rhythmic pulses as soon as you get a taste of the transcendent intensity.

There’s an insane amount of depth between the Jangle Pop Indie melodies, the massive high-octane Dancehall beats, and the cosmic reverb in between which ensures Universe still resonates as a smooth, polished concordant mix.

Only a Manchester-based artist could ever have dreamt of bringing those Marr-Esque guitar licks into a soulful spiritual work of Fusion Reggae.
