If any track has what it takes to unite fans of Fidlar, $uicideboy$, and Skinny Puppy, it is the angst-rife earworm, NUMB! The tumultuous triumph of a single succeeds in lyrically and sonically depicting the frenetic and fraught emotions that broil to the surface when a relationship delipidates. The clever touches to the production and the vocal FX stand as a testament to Peach Giraffe’s ingenuity. They have exactly what it takes to go viral. Watch this space.

Dark pop royalty, HVIRESS, cordially invite you to bite into their latest baroque single, Golden Apple

With the baroquely orchestral strings against the cinematically dark electro elements and HVIRESS bringing just as much alchemy to the mix vocally with their gothy occultist harmonies, Golden Apple is a bewitching triumph of a single from the dark pop duo.

If Emilie Autumn broke out of her Victorian anachronistic bubble and entered the realm of demure pop, the results would be equally as indulgent as the darkly imaginative single that also plays with tribal and apocalyptic themes.

Horror pop royalty, Minerva Daisy, returns with her latest single, Something Strange

Manchester-based alt-indie pop singer-songwriter Minerva Daisy delivered macabre poetry in her latest horror pop single, Something Strange.

After a baroque pop intro, the track starts to pick up momentum after the powerful and queer indie pop songstress delivers the striking lyric “there’s a lump in your throat, I hope it swallows you up” and sets the tone for the fiery release that will allow you to imagine what Kate Nash would have sounded like if she found the inclination to become a murder folk artist. Even though there’s plenty of dark imagery in the high-octane hit, that doesn’t strip the luminary light from this infectious hell hath no fury like a woman scorned release. Any fans of Amanda Palmer, Amigo the Devil, and the Creepshow will find that Something Strange is just as obsession-worthy.

If anyone has what it takes to shake the monotony out of the Manchester music scene, our money is on Minerva Daisy.

Dark pop alchemist, Aimee Saturne, proves that she’s still LA’s supreme in her latest single, Edge of the World, which incorporates her usual sultry air while encapsulating the same sense of trepidation that has been gripping us all a little too hard as of late.

Edge of the World finds an ethereal way to call out to anyone who is feeling trapped on our hell-scape of a planet where we can’t quite escape the unjustness or find an even footing within it.

If Avril Lavigne ever gave up her crown, the up and coming singer-songwriter Lyra V discernibly has what it takes to take her place as the pop-rock supreme. In her latest single, 2 Late, she uses her classical vocal training as much as her command over the ethereal atmosphere of her vocal timbre.

Melancholy pierces through the melodic verses and the stormy choruses to create a track that leaves no corner of the emotional spectrum unvisited. Hell hath no eloquent fury like a woman committed to projecting every ounce of visceral frustration into a soundscape. It’s the darkest earworm that you will hear this year. More impressively, the authenticity of her sonic signature is almost matchless.

You Were Waiting For Me: The Killing Tapes left with absolutely nothing on ‘Never Going Home’

With an energetically vibrant performance that has your heart beating so much faster than a few seconds before, The Killing Tapes remind us that travelling is a beautiful experience but certainly doesn’t shake off the past with ‘Never Going Home‘.

The Killing Tapes is an indie dark-pop duo that radiates brightly and brings us back to a time when things were so much more peaceful, as they forge a palate-pleasing sound that is quite mesmerizing at times.

As our minds race and we think back to that liberating feeling while away from our own home, The Killing Tapes show us into their world – with a quite astonishing performance here – that will have you recalling when you ran away from a predicament you thought would go away while you were gone.

Spotlight Feature: Wally Hoak opens up in his dark pop hit, HARD FEELINGS

Dominican Republic-born, Brooklyn-based dark pop prodigy, Wally Hoak, has been garnering plenty of hype since making his debut in 2020. His most popular track to date, Complicated, has racked up over 33k streams since the release, and based on his latest single, HARD FEELINGS, it is unlikely that his career will stop gaining traction any time soon.

In HARD FEELINGS, raw emotion is projected into dark, thorny synth lines as reverb swirls around the 808s under Hoak’s emotionally sultry vocal timbre. Lyrically, it became the ultimate ‘don’t talk to me, I’m angry track’ as it alludes to the alienating emotions that sting at the surface in the wake of toxic relationship dynamics.

Hoak went so far beyond scratching around at surface level with HARD FEELINGS; he cut right to the marrow. Naturally, we can’t wait to hear the next confessional masterpiece.
