Rico B – No Hooks: An Atmospherically Bass-Driven Hip Hop Debut

http://www.deezer.com/track/1054653542

Rico B has joined a plethora of Hip Hop artists who have made their debut in 2020, still, he definitely didn’t fail to make an impression. Their first single “No Hook” is a certifiable indication of plenty more fresh new drops to come from the US artist.

They’re rolling with their own unfuckwithably convictive attitude in No Hook, which is a fairly misleading title, you’ll be hooked in this atmospheric bass-driven mix from the moment you hit play. The vibe may be fairly ominous, yet, the Boom Bap mix has plenty of accessibly personable distinction to throw your way.

Quincy Valentine drops new track and music video for “Like You Do”

A native of the Bronx, New York, Quincy Valentine grew up with music influences left, right and centre, from his pianist mother to local rappers and the church.

He’s produced and played keyboard for local and major artists such as Mr Complex, and Scarface. Now, Valentine is here, unleashing his soulful take on RnB, a flashy, summery upbeat number with Valentine’s cool rapped vocal a mix of old school boom bap with a more flowing, lyrical style. All hooked up with duetted chorus vocals from Bronx stable-mate singer/songwriter/producer Winston Ward. ‘Like You Do’ is slick, sexy, and it grooves with some proper old-school sass.

You can check out Like You Do via YouTube.

Jefe Gold brings the ‘summertime rap’ with “Kamikaze”

Yeah, ok – there’s an obvious Marshall Mathers-shaped elephant in the room when Jefe Gold’s vocal first starts up, a fine, soft-rolling lyrical rap reminiscent of the best of Eminem or maybe, at times, Machine Gun Kelly, but when the “You can tell everybody mama, I’m a kamikaze” hook drops that just doesn’t matter; it’s got more than enough weight to carry itself, all BY itself.

The track’s soft, a vaguely Japanese melodic line playing round behind Gold’s rapping until that big, big chorus – this is quality summertime radio-friendly rap that wouldn’t sound out of place nestled between any number of Gold’s more well-established peers.

You can check out the track on Spotify, and Jefe Gold’s Facebook page is here.

Jay Wst – taking it to the “Street”

https://music.apple.com/us/album/street/1526399367?i=1526399368

Jay Wst is an eighteen-year-old rapper from Brooklyn, NYC, and ‘Street’ – his second single – is exactly what you might expect; a raw, honest, coming-of-age story of life, and the fear of sudden death, in a city that looks the other way. The lyrics, set to a well-produced background of hip hop beats, are snappy, brutal, telling Wst’s truth with a voice of vulnerability and defiance.

Music from the streets, for the streets.

Fiery Lyrical Conviction Meets Ambient Beats in GV’s Standout Hip Hop Single “Lil Min”

Breaking Hip Hop artist & activist GV made their debut in 2018 with the firestorm of a Rap album “Calm Before the Storm”. If you let the release pass you by, there’s no better time to hit play on the collection of adrenalizing convictive tracks which tackle issues which are (unsurprisingly) just as prevalent today.

The perfect introduction to GV’s fiery approach to ambient Hip Hop is Lil Man, a mould-breaking feat of Hip Hop where ambient dreamy beats create the platform for GV’s justifiably aggressive vocals which verse the hard-hitting, raw and real lyrics.

The lyrics may invoke a smorgasbord of emotion, but the smooth and hazy production makes sure that any anger thrown your way in Lil Man hits you accordantly.

You can check out GV’s single Lil Min along with their album by heading over to Spotify.

Young Rooney – Left Hand: Atmospherically Ensnaring Alt Hip Hop.

Breaking Hip Hop artist Young Rooney has followed-up from the success of their debut single with their second atmospherically ensnaring single “Left Hand”. After a tension-building prelude, Let Hand unravels as a transfixing feat of contemporary Trap.

The gripping mix may pull in an element or two from the Old School-style, but Young Rooney perceptibly made the gripping sound in Left Hand his own. He found the perfect balance of ominous vibes and hard-hitting reality reflecting lyrics in Left Hand. It may be dark, but it’s anything but gritty, the polished production carries an almost hypnotic tendency. We definitely don’t get to say that every day.

You can check out Young Rooney’s single Left Hand for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.
