Solomon Jones released the dualistic hip-hop single of the year with the subversive single, Snowberry

Taken from his album, Glass, the standout single, Snowberry, from the up-and-coming New Jersey-residing hip-hop artist, Solomon Jones, is a lesson in subversive expression.

From a smooth and jazzy prelude that drips pure soul and seduction through the backing vocals around his hushed spoken-word timbre, the track abruptly yet seamlessly takes a drastic turn in direction.

After confessing amorous feelings, Solomon Jones exhibits his dark and “cursed” side before bringing the soul back in, proving that the line between light and dark resides in us all and we’re only fooling ourselves by denying our intrinsically dualistic nature. Sonically, Snowberry is subtle. Yet that didn’t stand in the way of the versatile artist from delivering one of the most impactful hip-hop singles of the year.

The album was released on December 10th; it is now available to stream and purchase via apple music.

Triple Six Steve joins forces with OneView to drop chilled new groove ‘Lonely View’

Triple Six Steve

Cambridgeshire vocalist, songwriter, and clothing empresario Triple Six Steve joins forces here with producer OneWish for their first collaborative single, part a project to release multiple styles and musical ideas all held together by the Sabotage (Triple Six’s promotions company) ‘Twisted Soul’ sound running through each release. Originally promoted as a fan pledge, the single easily reached its target, and with extremely good reason – it’s a gorgeous little lite jazzy hip hop groove, easy and chilled with Steve’s soulful flow sitting atop vaguely melancholy piano and pulled-back beats.

It’s reminiscent of ‘3 years…’era Arrested Development, or maybe a little of that Fugees groove (minus Lauren, of course). It’s a hugely commercial track, crying out for airplay and a wider audience, but that in no way detracts from the soul or groove – this is a genuine slice of mellow groove hip hop that simply deserves to be heard.
