The gloves are off in Sarah Shafey’s latest indie-electro hit, Competitor

Fans of Shiny Toy Guns, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and She Wants Revenge will find just as many reasons to get addicted to the heavy production in the Toronto-based singer-songwriter, producer and mixing engineer Sarah Shafey’s latest single, Competitor.

The gloves are officially off in the stylishly fierce indie-electro hit, which is a harbinger of even more visceral things to come from her upcoming fourth album, Blackbox Universe, which is due for release in September 2022. With her tendency to meld genres outside of the electronica spectrum, there’s an immersive tapestry of original layers to her sound, which not only lends itself to the originality, but also to the synapses that will fire upon registering the unadulterated expression that knows very little, if anything of assimilation.

Competitor released in May 2022. You can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.

Sarah Rae tempts shadow sides to the surface in her surf noir single, Shadow Girl.

https://soundcloud.com/sarahraesings/shadow-girl

If April March had a deviously arcane side, her hypnotic rhythms would share the same maleficent magnetism as Sarah Rae’s latest single, Shadow Girl, which was orchestrated to tempt shadow sides to the surface.

The operatic harmonies interlace with the artfully tumultuous instrumentals, acting as a cascading anchor through the symphonic scores, disturbed dream-pop layers and surf rock noir style. Naturally, the Atlanta-based artist is one to watch. She’s by fair one of the most original artist’s we have heard in 2021.

Shadow Girl was officially released on November 11th; it is now available to stream on SoundCloud. The album from which the ethereally Avant single was taken is due for release in 2022.

Sarah Proctor has released her essential LGBTQ+ ballad, Tired

In her latest single, ‘Tired’, Sarah Proctor treated her ever-growing fanbase to a stripped-back world-weary piano ballad that evades heteronormative stereotypes and hyper-normalised queer archetypes to paint a depiction of two women in love.

The semi-orchestral ballad carries all of the tenderness of a single by Bill Ryder-Jones, Tom Odell, Daughter and Bon Ivor. As her gentle, profound vocal timbre resonates above the sombrely minimalist keys, the vulnerability almost starts to feel like gravity.

As a queer woman who often feels ostracised by many facets of LGBTQ+ culture, it is beyond refreshing to find a relatable voice, a sincere artist looking to introduce reality onto the airwaves.

Since making her debut in 2020, the UK artist has garnered over 1 million streams on Spotify alone. Fans from all over the globe are drawn to the UK-born, LA-based artist’s intoxicatingly honest take on romanticism away from hyper-sexual toxic narratives.

The official video for Tired premiered on August 20th; you can check it out for yourselves by heading over to YouTube.

Sarah Rae has released her hyper dream-pop track, Crimson Rose

https://soundcloud.com/sarahraesings/crimson-rose/s-cgRAsVBR4FH

‘Crimson Rose’ is the latest single from breaking artist Sarah Rae who merges dream-pop with hyper-pop to resounding effect. The Atlanta-based singer-songwriter set out to create an epic dream-pop track that weaves through dissonance; discernibly, she succeeded.

The bitter-sweet emotional tone of the single is amplified by the volatile nature of the soundscape that starts with soft staccato synths before catapulting into a raw balladic outpour of emotion.

Lyrically, the track centres around letting go of things that no longer serve you; if you’re going to break free to any pop track, it is going to be this one.

Crimson Rose was released on August 5th; you can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud, Spotify or Sarah Rae’s official website.

Sarah O’Moore serves soul food in her sophomore single, I Need U.

Alt-RnB soulstress Sarah O’Moore has followed on from her debut single, Here to Stay, with the sophomore single, I Need U, which energetically emanates good vibes despite running through varying senseless tragedies present in socio-political landscapes.

The Irish singer-songwriter’s funk-bridled old-school style incorporates elements of jazz and reggae to create a culturally rich smorgasbord of sound led by 70s-style synth lines. The sonic textures alone are enough to advocate cultural harmony. Yet, through her matter of fact lyrics, minority groups have a true ally, and the affronts of the narrow-minded that are depressingly prolific are quashed under her graceful soul.

With a voice as authentic as Macy Gray’s it will be no time at all before Sarah O’Moore is ascending the RnB charts.

I Need U is available to stream on Spotify.

Atlanta indie artist Sarah Rae explores the multifaceted nature of love with her new single, ‘Poison Ivy’.

Sarah Rae

With her latest alt-indie single, ‘Poison Ivy’, Sarah Rae explores the contrasting layers of love, melodically shifting between light and dark transitions in the Shoegaze single that will undoubtedly be a hit with fans of Hooverphonic, Portishead and Slowdive.

It is singles like Poison Ivy that remind you that there’s no such thing as a realistic ‘happy’ love song. They’re about as true to life as superficially stretched smiles in social media posts that are aimed to deceive people into believing that your life is a 24/7 soirée of aesthetic euphoria.

Poison Ivy starts with chilling angular notes that feed into the stylish trip hop-style soundscape that allows the vox to find perfect synergy with the reverb-swathed instrumentals as they bleed into them, still allowing the poignancy of the lyrics to haunt the progressively enthralling track that gets better with every listen.

Poison Ivy is due for official release on June 9th; you can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.
