Jakob Leventhal – This Love is Sarcastic: A Melodic Folk Pop Guide to Cynical Romanticism

Whilst we have undoubtedly seen a lot of evolution to our perceptions of the social construction of love in the last few years, ‘sarcastic love’ is still a fairly new concept to me. Yet, Jakob Leventhal’s debut single “This Love is Sarcastic” was the perfect soundscape to allude to one of the more cynical brands of love. Before you even hit play, you’re hooked into the imagery which presents itself through the poignantly penned lyrics to the single. The harmony from the enamouring vocals rests neatly against the acoustic guitar progressions in the melodically bitter-sweet single which has already left me impatient for the emerging artist to release a debut album.

Any fans of Radiohead, Elliot Smith, Nick Drake and Bon Iver are sure to appreciate the quintessential soundscape which Jakob has cooked up with his first single. You can check out This Love is Sarcastic for yourselves by heading over to Spotify now.
