Finding your way again: Indie-Pop singer Imelda Gabs drops the outstanding solo debut ‘Fallen Angel’

UK & Switzerland based singer-songwriter, pianist and producer Imelda Gabs is quite breathlessly brilliant on the incredible visuals for her debut single called ‘Fallen Angel‘. This is something rare and special right before our eyes.

Daughter of the world-renowned jazz pianist Doctor Gabs who sadly passed away when she was just 15, this young lady has made her own lane and he would be so proud of what she has created here.

Her music is so cinematic, each layer and move has been created with such pure precision. You can tell that she is in charge of her own destiny and is not going to let anyone ruin her vision with fads or flashy tactics. Each word is sung with an elegant class that is a refreshing cleanse of the current music around that is mostly dirty and diluted.

Scars on her back, seeing a newspaper with her name and picture inside, a movie-type start, this has it all. The haunting but beautiful start is an entry into something more than a song. this is her flying free, finally released from being in bands and in other’s shadows. She is doing what she feels is right and her piercing eyes looks right inside your soul. The gift to hold her tone is there, never trying too hard to impress anyone but herself. The scene of her with her wings on and the spark filled background is a moment that gives my whole body shivers of excitement.

With a jazz background and influenced in various genres such as pop, soul and classy classical, her music is clearly original and I love how she isn’t trying to copy anybody else’s style, only to be the best version of herself each day.

Imelda Gabs is born to be a solo artist and seems happy with this new adventure. ‘Fallen Angel‘ is a song that is edgy and real, her stunning voice and ability to get a top team to join her on the journey, is a sign of world class releases to follow with her debut EP set for 2021.

Sometimes you lose yourself and run away from that special soul that really loves you, You care for them but are scared you will hurt them so you run away but come back, hoping they will still be there. The ultimate love story to see if you are a match and the timing is always an issue. This is the incredible story and a spectacular song that will be timeless. This creation is that good.

A&R FactoryPresent: From Kid

Following the release of their acclaimed debut album, Swiss duo From Kid return to the fold with their sophomore LP Favourite Storm. Leading the way is the enticing single ‘New Gods’ out 17th February.

‘New Gods’ starts off with a warm, inviting vocal melody, instilling the innate sense of endearing intimacy that is laced throughout From Kid’s previous offerings. The track is restrained yet gripping. An unassuming guitar bounces gently throughout, working in harmony with the coy keyboard and atmospheric synths, painting a vast landscape to match the wondrous nature in which it was recorded. It’s no surprise that the relationship between human and nature marks a key element in the new From Kid, which might also explain the opening lyric “Earth no longer accepts our presence with silence.” Speaking about the track the band have said “In the song it is mother earth speaking to the human race, expressing its displeasure and showing power.”

The haunting visuals were filmed in a stunning forest veiled by a blanket of snow and far removed from the everyday urban chaos. The video juxtaposes the warmth and comfort of the track as the lone character meanders desperately through the chilling landscape before collapsing to his knees before the camera pans away; perhaps to demonstrate just how small we really are in this grandiose world.

The second full-length project ‘Favourite Storm’ saw the band remove themselves from the hectic hustle and bustle of city life and was recorded in the tranquility of the remote Graubünden mountain village Lohn. Dealing with the contrast between a man-made world and a wild natural world, the album ebbs and flows like a stormy night. Sometimes gentle and vulnerable like nature after a violent storm, then loud and melancholy like a hurricane sweeping over the forest; From Kid have created a more personal, bold body of work than that of its predecessor ‘You Can Have All The Wonders’.

Consisting of Andrin Berchtold and Gian Reto Camenisch, From Kid’s debut album saw them race into the top ten of the Swiss album charts in 2015 as well as being nominated for both ‘Best Emerging Act’ at the Swiss Talent Awards and ‘Best Breaking Act’ at the Swiss Music Awards. Their success not only lies in their native country but support from renowned tastemaker sites such as Nothing But Hope And Passion, Pause Musicale and The 405saw them climb to the top of the Hype Machine popular chart, garnering recognition on an international scale.

New Gods’ is the perfect introduction to From Kid’s forthcoming album and is a sincere piece of music that showcases Berchtold’s inherent talent for writing charming songs that bring to mind the meandering, brooding character of Wild Beasts. With the album out later this year we cannot wait to see where the duo’s beguiling journey takes them in 2017.

A&R Factory Present: Rival Kings

Rival Kings’ new single Drown is here, and it’s a pumping, raging beast. The band turn their earthy song-writing into modern pop music like it’s nobody’s business.

The six-piece band’s new single Drown, heralds their second album WAR, the successor to their acclaimed debut Citizens (2014). WAR is a commentary on the inner struggle of a generation full of doubt and enforced individuality. It’s an ode to the lack of orientation of the so-called Generation Y, full to the brim with medication, captives of their own freedom, and in many ways more narrow-minded than the generations they deplore. A lonely generation.

The song reflects what the Rival Kings do best: Perform music with an energy that has managed to thrill and fascinate crowds at countless festivals & club shows (Zurich Open Air, Gurten-Festival, M4Music Festival, Stimmen Festival).

A&R Factory Present: The Two Romans

The brothers Samuele and Mattia crossed the Swiss Alps and started conquering the stages as “The two Romans” with their bold and tempestuous Roman temperament.

e same household again in 2012, the two brothers became a creative unity writing songs and rehearsing high above the roofs of Thun accompanied by the wind in their long hair. After scouting various genres they reached their destination somewhere between pop, folk and rock , but without the intention to settle down.

Both collaborate on songwriting and polish the tunes until they shine without losing the raw character. “A song is never finished. But we have to let it go sometime because beauty is found in imperfection”, states Samuele, “ultimately, it is the raw and unfinished music that people can relate to in their hearts.”
