Forget Black Mirror, delve into the darkwave dystopia of Dr Void and the Skinjob’s latest single, Android’s and Polaroid’s

Darkwave and post-punk caustically collide in the latest single, Android’s and Polaroid’s, from the irreplicable powerhouse, Dr Void and the Skinjob’s.

With synth lines dark and reverberant enough they could have been stolen from an 80s horror OST and drum fills frenetic enough they leave the senses in a tailspin, the Glasgow-hailing three-piece surpass their influences from She Past Away, Gary Numan, The Damned, and Clan of Xymox by creating electrifying installations of sonic frenzy paired with dystopic lyrical themes.

Android’s and Polaroid’s follows a similar tale to the TV series Humans by depicting the story of an over-used sex droid that is seduced by freedom and wants to taste human morality after being subjugated to the worst facets of the human condition. It seems that Charlie Brooker isn’t the only one with a talent for portraying dystopic narratives that aren’t too far from the realm of possibility.

The gloves are off in Sarah Shafey’s latest indie-electro hit, Competitor

Fans of Shiny Toy Guns, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and She Wants Revenge will find just as many reasons to get addicted to the heavy production in the Toronto-based singer-songwriter, producer and mixing engineer Sarah Shafey’s latest single, Competitor.

The gloves are officially off in the stylishly fierce indie-electro hit, which is a harbinger of even more visceral things to come from her upcoming fourth album, Blackbox Universe, which is due for release in September 2022. With her tendency to meld genres outside of the electronica spectrum, there’s an immersive tapestry of original layers to her sound, which not only lends itself to the originality, but also to the synapses that will fire upon registering the unadulterated expression that knows very little, if anything of assimilation.

Marked Since Day 1 has unleashed his dirty electro-rock earworm, Dirty Little Lips

‘Dirty Little Lips’ is the latest sultry industrial electro pop-rock track from the renowned multimedia artist and model, Marked Since Day 1. By matching the galvanising sex appeal in She Want Revenge, Mindless Self Indulgence and Alec Empire tracks, apathy isn’t an option once the fiery track builds to full momentum.

If Taylor Swift is the lyrical angel that sits on your shoulder, the Chicago hailing alternative artist, Marked Since Day 1 (David Gabriel) is the devil that sits on the other. The macabrely meta lyrics allude to the nefariousness that comes to the surface in modern dating etiquette while never letting the realism slip. The devilishly twisted single hits the spot in every conceivable way.

The Kecks pull hope out of ennui in their dirty indie earworm, Tonight Might be Different.

With their seminal indie earworm, Tonight Might be Different, the icons in the making, The Kecks, proved that alchemy bleeds when dirty disco and catchy indie post-punk splices together under infectiously erratic indie-rock crooning.

The danceable beats share the same aphrodisiacal qualities as She Wants Revenge, while the vocals will beguile any Julian Casablancas fans and the intricate indie guitars leave you hooked on every angular note.

Right from the first hit, Tonight Might be Different tells you that The Kecks are so much more than the sum of all parts. The enigmatic raconteurial energy practically begs to be heard live as it galvanises you through shared ennui. Anyone who finds that disappointment consistently creeps into their worldview will undoubtedly find resonance with the volatile dejection in the authentically animated hit.

There’s new-found confidence to the Kecks sound, making their indie swagger more convincing than Alex Turner’s – by a longshot. What makes it so magnetic is the firm grip of their DIY ethic that has been holding strong, even in the event of sold-out shows in their current residing place, Hamburg.
