I Like To Watch You On My Television: Pittsburgh band Bikini Islands shape-shift our intrigued ears on ‘Midnight Lizard’

As the brilliantly named Bikini Islands are back from their short pandemic-fueled hiatus with more deliciously lip-licking music after 2019’s ‘Vines‘ and ‘Psycho Killer‘, they have us looking around for potential slimy creatures roaming around unexpectedly on their new slick single named ‘Midnight Lizard‘.

Bikini Islands is a super chilled and highly unpretentious four-piece Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based indie garage-rock band. Their style is a blend of steel city edge and surfer mellow, as they make thrilling music that reminds you of simpler times.

On a riff-laden track with much to like on this tv-swirling song that wraps a palm-tree blowing freshness into your awaiting mind, you quickly feel the weekend beach smooth-talking track flow beautifully into your atmosphere. This is a song to turn up loud and just let go – as the solos are something specially mixed to please – combined with confident vocals that keep things sweet and pure for the gasping soul to lap up thirstily.

Midnight Lizard‘ from the pulsating Pittsburgh garage-rockers called Bikini Islands, is that awesome catchy track you aren’t quite sure what is all about, but you love it anyway. They have a very likable style and you feel enraptured by the soundscape provided and feel like they would be an epic band to watch live. As long as there are no slippery lizards crawling around at the gig however.

São Paulo’s The Zasters and their pets release excellent wine infused DIY Video ”Meltdown”

Produced, mixed and mastered by Rafa Luna and edited with the help of Jules Altoé, this is the new DIY Music Video from Brazilian indie rockers, The Zasters.

COVID-19 has reached a tipping point and this fantastic song has just expressed the feeling of millions so eloquently. We are all a bit fed up are starting to lose the plot. We feel very numb inside and need wine. Lots of it. I love the realness of the video and you can see the personalities of Brazilian indie rockers The Zasters shining brightly here.

I’m a huge fan of the awesome guitar riffs, solos and energetic drumming throughout. This is an uplifting track with a great vibe that gets the head nodding happily. With singer Juliana Altoé leading the way with her terrific vocals that I can’t stop listening to, ”Meltdown’‘ encapsulates 2020 to a tee.  The DIY video is well made and I like how they have expressed the numb & dumb feelings we are going through as a planet. I’d love to watch The Zasters live and hopefully they are able to tour soon and jam. That is what they do and very well too.

Canadian Psychedelic rockers The Space Wizards beam through with ”On the Loose”

https://open.spotify.com/track/3ZLhtdZBhG6kr66LfUC8k1

There’s a breath-taking start and the drummer is in full flow. There is no stopping him on this track and he fires through with unlimited energy. From there it’s a raw vocal and guitar lesson on how to entertain the crowd. One of Canada’s best are here and they are born to entertain.

The Space Wizards are a 3 piece outfit from the mean streets of Montreal that have been jamming together since 2017. They impress mightily with ”On The Loose”. This is good old fashioned rock and roll that is designed to make us dance. The band must be going nuts without live gigs as they seem like a proper act. Not concerned with fame, these guys just want to do what good bands do- rock out hard on stage and let it all hang out. That is exactly what the song is about. Keeping things real and letting bygones be bygones with small things. Life is too short for unnecessary issues. This single is taken off their successful ”Adding Color” album from 2019 with this song being one of their last single releases as new music is surely on the way in 2020.

Newly formed Leeds Garage-Punk Rockers Goose Chase make powerful entrance with ‘’Rich Get Richer’’

You don’t get a voice when you’re on the dole. Goose Chase are here to champion the regular people in the world and make a massive entrance to be proud of with their new single ‘’Rich Get Richer’’.

This is the 2nd single off their debut EP slated for release on the 19th June 2020 and follows up the fast-paced banger ‘’Time Goes Too Fast For Me’’. The band all met at University and feature Taylor Jones on Vocals, James Masterson and Jamie Waller on Guitar, Eddie Lomax is on Bass and finally, Rob Hughes as the energetically charged drummer. The band all share an interest in politics and raise interesting points with their music that is for the common citizen, frustrated with the state of the country at the moment.

I enjoy Goose Chase’s catchy melodies and driven attitude. This is a band pushing themselves through the door and we should take notice before they hit the big time.

Stream the Goose Chase lads here on spotify and be sure to tell your mates about them.

Headphone release speaker-knocking new track ‘Something Like A Love Song’

San Diego based indie-rockers Headphone have released new single ‘Something Like A Love Song’.

The alternative three-piece’s latest track is a fun, powerful and poppy ride. A sparkly, keyed intro sets a hopeful pace and tone for frontman Morgan McRae to hook you in with a chorus that doesn’t seem too overwritten or overdrone in its enjoyability. The track’s self-awareness takes you to a fun place and shows a lot of the hallmarks of what this kind of indie-anthem needs to really grab a listener, and It does it well.

‘Something Like A Love Song’ shows the band’s strong sensibilities in writing upbeat, danceable pop that feels contemporary but without any dragging pretense. There’s little to not like here for fans of, and it’s well worth checking out if danceable indie pop – with a splash of 80s style melancholia – is your thing,

You can listen to Headphone’s ‘Something Like A Love Song’ on their Spotiffy page here.
