Andrew Brown looks for the light in his debut RnB single, In the Dark

For his alt-RnB debut, the independent artist and producer, Andrew Brown, went all-in with the trippy minor-key melodies in his poised yet profoundly raw single, In the Dark, which lasciviously flirts with elements of pop and new wave hip hop after its sombre and ballad-like intro.

When in full momentum, In the Dark is a visceral triumph of experimentalism and straight from the sad boi soul expression. While there is a little room for improvement in the production with the slightly excessive use of phasing, all in all, In the Dark stands as an all too promising debut for Andrew Brown. You can hear it for yourselves by heading to Spotify.

UK Rapper, Nosa outlined the line of good and evil in us all with ‘bad moods’

Nosa

With an intro of jazzy hip hop nostalgia fed through warm saturated tape delay, slipping into Nosa’s latest single, bad moods, is easier than breathing. While the melodicism of the instrumentals lulls you into catharsis, the Dartford-based rapper’s tranquilising vocal timbre pulls you deeper into the dreamy production which wraps itself around admissions of vulnerability.

Nosa used bad moods to remind his listeners that we’re all fallible, but that should never be a source of shame; it should be the cause of our own accountability. After the globe glued itself to the Johnny Depp trial in complete denial that the line of good and evil exists in all of us, bad moods couldn’t be more of a timely drop. Any fans of George the Poet and Kae the Tempest will undoubtedly want to make a playlist staple out of bad moods.

Bad moods will officially release on June 15th on all major platforms, including Spotify.

Get secondary highs from Cedric B’s latest contemporary kick of RnB. Love=DRUG

The evolution of RnB may have been fairly stunted since the 90s, but one artist taking the genre into the sonic future with his distinctive hard-kicking spin on contemporary RnB is the Dallas-based crooner Cedric B.

His latest single, Love=DRUG, taken from his sixth independent album by the same name, is a stridently evocative work with melodies that seduce as much as the high-range vocals around the hip hop elements. Even if you’re not getting your own love fix, you will easily get high on the vibes in Love=DRUG.

Love=DRUG will officially release on June 14th. You can check it out for yourselves via SoundCloud.

JoeJas unveiled the hottest hip hop single of the summer with ‘Sally’s Last Dance’

It’s all in the vibe in the London, UK-hailing rapper and producer, JoeJas’ latest single Sally’s Last Dance. His charisma has always been unapologetically his own, but the endearingness of it knew no bounds in this cute and nerdy music video, which sells exactly what sets JoeJas apart, his infectious glass-half-full attitude that is contagious enough to start a new pandemic of optimism

If Andre 3000 and Daft Punk hit the spot for you, JoeJas will hit it even harder with his colourfully urban art-conscious instrumentals and honeyed RnB hip hop vox.

The official music video for Sally’s Last Dance officially premiered on the 30th of May. You can check it out for yourselves via YouTube.

Ahmad Nur & Mauni Maun brought the call for justice back in trend with ‘Old News’

It is all about the old school grooves in the luxe hip hop debut from LA newcomer Ahmad Nur. ‘Old News’, featuring Mauni Maun, throws in RnB vocal melodies and Snoop Dogg-level chill rap bars on the inventively distorted jazz-infused instrumentals, which immediately sets Nur apart from the rest of the up-and-coming names that have flocked to the airwaves in 2022.

Yet, the far more striking distinction in Old News is the soul that was thrown at it as a consequence of Nur’s anger that racial injustice is old news once again – despite all of the issues that sprawled across the headlines are still happening every day, just as rampantly.

Old News is now available to stream via Spotify.

Lamar Creation soulfully hates the player and the game in his RnB pop hit, Feeling Me

Chicago born and raised artist, Lamar Creation, has dropped the ultimate 2022 RnB pop summer anthem with his latest hip hop influenced single, Feeling Me, which gives all the luxe grooves as Jay Z, the fiery passion of Frank Ocean and all of the contemporary funk of Daft Punk.

The sun-bleached electronic textures, which also find enough room to throw in nuances of Afrobeat, create the perfect platform for Lamar and collaborator, RichDaPhatt’s vocals as they seemingly drift through the entire emotional spectrum to lay it all down on the line on a relationship that is as much of a mental mindfuck as spending an hour watching the news.

The old adage may tell us to hate the game and not the player, but Feeling Me stands as a testament to the dissonance that playing games can cause in a way that may (hopefully) make people think twice about dealing with that kind of hand.

We scarcely needed his bio to tell us that Lamar is as much of a poet as he is a lyricist. It is all too perceptible through the jarring lines that keep on delivering the evocative hammering blows.

Feeling Me is now available to stream on Spotify.

Chalant hooks us up ‘For a Night’ with his injection of dark RnB

After garnering a serious amount of traction around his debut single, the Sydney-based alternative artist, Chalant, has dropped his dark, grungy slice of RnB, For a Night. If you can imagine what it would sound like if Frank Ocean and Trent Reznor met in the sonic middle, you will get an idea of how emotionally intense this production is as it balances on wailing synths, oscillating bass and dark monochromatic textures.

Never afraid to gaze into the most malignant facets of the human condition, Chalant is quickly making a name for himself in the field of high fire social dissections. With a perspective that is just as refreshing as his sound, it is only a matter of time before Chalant sees the top of the charts.

For a Night is now available to stream on Spotify.

Orlando Rocco Music & Justis Chanell delved beyond superficiality in their indie RnB single, Way You See Me

https://soundcloud.com/user-532179988/way-you-see-me-ft-justis-chanell

Orlando Rocco Music & Justis Chanell became the ultimate RnB collaborative power couple with the release of the East Coast hip hop-influenced single, Way You See Me, which captures that intoxicatingly euphoric feeling of knowing that someone sees you, with their field of vision extending far beyond surface level.

Justis Chanell’s smoothly sultry yet understatedly charismatic vocals resonate against the slick indie RnB grooves that are swathed in layers of shimmering reverb. Way You See Me stands as a contemporary testament to both of their talent. We can only hope that there’s more collab content in the pipeline. Way You See Me was nothing short of alchemically cathartic for the way the sophisticated style runs on a par with the level of soul.

Way You See Me will be officially released on May 13th; you can check it out for yourselves via SoundCloud.

Sandra “Candy” Morgan brings the gravitas in her latest single, Classy Girl

Floridian singer-songwriter Sandra “Candy” Morgan has brought her matchless attitude back to the airwaves with her infectiously high energy feat EDM RnB, Classy Girl.

As the title alludes, the subversive single flips the narrative on many of the usual urban tropes that are quick to sexualise and objectify women every time there is a celebration of our physiology. The only things that are ‘nasty’ in the soundscape are the dubby beats and the hits of the 808s that create a dance-worthy earworm. We can’t wait to hear what the fiery soulstress serves up next.

You can get galvanised to the bass, beats and emboldening energy for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.

Jundae Hassan is a diamond in the rough in his vibe-driven RnB debut

Taken from his debut album, Good Vibes Only, Jundae Hassan’s standout single, Diamonds, is an evocative vibe-driven feat of experimentally bold RnB hip hop.

He promised good vibes only in his debut LP; he notably delivered in the tenderly sweet track, Diamonds which is decorated in unbridled soul and the kind of trap pop ingenuity that makes Hassan a worthy contender for the 2022 billboard charts.

After this extremely promising debut, it is safe to assume that Jundae Hassan is primed and ready to make a serious impression on the airwaves. We can’t wait to hear what follows.

You can check out Hassan’s debut LP for yourselves by heading over to Spotify or Apple Music.
