Shemy ft Jeff Skigh roll in with tightly rolled Hip Hop track ‘Ain’t Like The Others’

Shemy rolls in the game with the potent mix of Hip Hop old school beats and flow on ‘Ain’t Like The Others‘.

Shemy is a hip hop artist from Flint in Michigan and his lyrical ability is gritty and raw, the words flow so well with his style of rapping. It’s effortless and the rhythms are real tight here.

Jeff Skigh is from Flint too and is an independent recording artist. These two work well together on this one. They shoot hoops, grind and do what they need to do, to survive in the wild streets of 2020.

Taken off ‘Oh We Rapping?’, this is a fine Hip Hop track that rides above the competition due to the superior production, vivid stories and the consistent style is upper echelon. Flint seems to be a place where top quality music is made and this is one of the best tracks I’ve heard in this genre this year so far.

Journeyman Positronic synths in the speakers with pop song ”When You Fall Down”

Positronic is the creation of Michael L. McDannold. Michael is from the Inland Empire in Southern California and has been making catchy synth-pop music since 1988. His first band was formed in 1988 with some friends from High School called Foundation. His next band was also with some friends from High School and was called Optic Rain. Shortly after Optic Rain broke up however, Michael moved to Michigan to marry the love of his life. After being in one more band, Michael decided to rather venture out on his own and came up with the name, Positronic because his music has a positive message and he loves electronic. Now back in his home of California, this is an artist who is ready to push his music to all corners of the world.

When You Fall Down” is a positive song with a strong message of help during these dark times. He is there for the love of his life and wants here to know that he is there for her always. This indie-pop song is a welcome addition to Positronic’s collection.

Michigan’s Josh Garvelink releases self-reflective indie-folk ”Boy Scout”

Boy Scout by Josh Garvelink

Josh Garvelink is an indie-folk singer songwriter from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is inspired by the acoustic styles of Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell and the songwriting of Bruce Springsteen, Sufjan Stevens and more. Josh writes songs that combine the personal with storytelling, touching on spirituality, working class life, the big picture in the world and the small alike.

Boy Scout” is the latest release from this journeyman singer with much to offer the world. He sings with real pain and his honest stories resonate through the experience. Josh sings with regret of not learning how to be a sailor or boy scout. He perhaps wishes that he had that knowledge that all schoolchildren should learn.

This is a very soothing indie-pop song from the Michigan singer-songwriter who is in sterling form here on ”Boy Scout”. A deep track with lots of tailored stories that dig at our heart-strings. This young artist is slowly rising up and is a pleasure to listen to such well-crafted music.

Detroit Emcee Ebgbev drops deep debut ”Numb to the Pain” in memory of his late father

You feel the pain deep in your heart and all you want is for it to go away. You can’t make it go away so you drown it out and soon everything feels all numb. You sink in a hole and you think you are never going to come out. You miss that loved one. Will you be strong for them. Or will you sink in the quicksand and never reach your goals in memory of the one you lost?

I haven’t been feeling too much new Hip Hop lately. As a 90’s Hip Hop fan I miss the old school beat and the storytelling. When I turned on Ebgbev’s Numb to the Pain” for the first time I experienced a feeling I hadn’t for so long. This new track has a real story.

Ebgbev unfortunately just lost his father due to to horrible coronavirus pandemic that has changed the way the world works. This is a terrible loss and we extend our condolences to Ebgbev and his family.

After losing my own father back in 2001 I got emotional after listening to this song. The pain eases sometimes but it never really goes away. Ever. You always want that one more moment to ask the old man a question. All you can do is remember the good times and cherish his memory.

This new Hip Hop track is well executed and the beat captures the moment to perfection. It’s piano background adds to the picture that he has created for us. This is new school Hip Hop with a new school feel. I like the lyricism and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more releases from Ebgbev as we all should.

Detroit in Michigan has a new emcee to embrace. With his Pops looking out for him up above, the sky is the limit.

A shootout of rhymes: Ryn Scott’s new release Execute

I honestly wasn’t expecting such a shootout of rhymes when I hit play on Ryn Scott’s Execute, let alone my laptop speakers clipping out to the heavy beats.

My first thought went to that Slim Shady motif that conquered Hip Hop’s golden 90’s and Dre’s handprint in the piano loops spiraling into a melodic vortex that sucks down the cumulative mass of mainstream rappers we’re so saturated with.

Execute goes beyond those withered stems of rap bars by cultivating a unique sound through a type of storytelling that poeticizes simple but well-structured harmonies for an authentic pure Hip-Hop banger.

If this is the premise, Ryn Scott has a talent ready to bloom.

You can listen to Execute by heading over on Youtube.

‘You The One’ by Krish: Keep your finger on the replay button!

Yup!! You’re going to listen to it. Then, just to make sure, you’re going to listen to it again. By the third listen to ‘You The One’ by Krish, you’ll be hooked. His smooth, sweet vocals are knicker-dropping and heart warming, all at the same time. The simple music is not so simple after a few listens, with deceptively complex syncopation and rhythm wrapped up in clean guitar riffs and well placed percussion. The background vocals are gorgeous and well produced, complementing the lead vocal like peanut butter and jelly. This song is an orgasmic, middle of the night, comfort food binge. It just had to be done!

Krish originates from Ann Harbour, Michigan. It’s definitely worth checking out some of his earlier work, as the journey to this highly prolific destination has been a relatively short but rewarding one. ‘You The One’ is already garnering a lot of positive attention and his singing and songwriting skills are raising all of the right eyebrows.

Feel free to check out his new release ‘You The One’ on Spotify. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll be the opposite of that, for sure.
