Tom Waits Meets Ricky Martin in THE Astrolabe’s pop mood elevator,  Lovers

THE Astrolabe became the superlative king of cosmic pop sex appeal with his latest single, Lovers. If you thought Ricky Martin’s Livin la vida loca was sonically seductive, brace yourself for the affectingly aphrodisiacal energy of Lovers, which alchemises Latino rhythms with Bowie-esque space dust and jazzy grooves, creating a genre-fluid tour de force that sweeps through the soul with maximum volition.

Following a prelude that nods to Kraftwerk, the Athens-hailing innovator’s vocals croon into the mix, allowing you to imagine how Waits’ discography would have unfolded if he was just as adept at wrapping his gruff timbres around pop hooks. In the choruses, the peerless singer-songwriter proves he’s equally comfortable in a more harmonic register as his vocal notes soar with the brass section.

We are officially obsessed with THE Astrolabe and his endlessly uplifting cultivated sound that goes beyond setting a tone; his ability to command your entire mood is second to none. For your own sake, get him on your radar.

Lovers started serenading the airwaves on October 3rd; get hot under the collar with it by heading over to Spotify.

Catch the fever of euphoria in Bekah Wilbourn’s sophomore single, Lost in Colombia

Bekah Wilbourn took the Latino Pop scene by storm with her cinematically melancholic debut single, Go Numb. On the 19th of July, the airwaves witnessed a different side to the songstress with the unveiling of her sophomore single, Lost in Colombia. Orchestrated as a celebration of multiculturalism viewed through the lens of a one-in-a-lifetime love affair, Lost in Colombia is an instantly infectious fever of euphoria.

As the strident horn stabs meet the mesmeric rhythm of the Latin percussion, a carnivalesque energy sweeps across the panoramic production which enshrines the El Paso-based artist’s expansively arrestive vocals that embody vitality.

In a time when it feels as though division is eroding connection, Bekah Wilbourn did so much more than simply contribute to the airwaves with Lost in Colombia, she served a reminder that, unlike prejudice, love knows nothing of borders.

In her own words,

“Lost in Colombia tells the heartfelt story of a journey driven by love and cultural immersion. The song’s narrative explores a deep, personal connection where the protagonist finds herself yearning to embrace the Colombian culture and lifestyle after meeting a lover in Colombia. The lyrics reflect her desire to step out of her comfort zone and fully integrate into his world, longing to be lost together in the enchanting and magical city of Colombia.”

Lost in Colombia is now available to stream on all major platforms, including Spotify.

Paloma Amaya became the ultimate advocate of embolened independence in her world music single, Mejor

The sensually superlative singer-songwriter, Paloma Amaya, blended her dualistic Mexican and Austrian heritage in her latest monocultural mould-smashing single, Mejor.

If rhythm is a dancer, it would want to move to the beat of Amaya’s fiery hit, which blends classic Latin pop with a pinch of reggaeton flavour and other elements of world music to effortlessly transcend genre and geographical boundaries. Just try telling us this isn’t the most vibrant single of the summer.

If you needed any proof that music is a universal language, slip right into the empowering hit, which celebrates freedom away from the toxicity of a relationship better left in the rear-view mirror. Amaya became the ultimate advocate of emboldened independence in Mejor. Stepping into your power never sounded sweeter thanks to the arrestive nature of Amaya’s pitch-perfect harmonies.

Mejor hit the airwaves on June 23; stream it on Spotify.

Mia Laren is demurely devil may care in her cinematic Latino pop track, Careful

Starting with a scintillating spoken word verse which outlines the brutality of betrayal with devil-may-care demure beguile, Latino pop artist Mia Laren’s latest single, Careful, is a cinematic invitation into her hypnotically emboldening scorn.

With a music video that is somewhere between Westworld and Moulin Rouge exhibiting the artist’s professional dance training, few icons shine brighter than the Baltimore singer-songwriter and producer. Evidently, there’s no end to her superlative talents. After growing up in a musical family, she found her magnetically celestial voice at 10 before graduating from UMBC with a BA in dance. From there on out she found her calling; replicating her life experience through rhythmic dramatized depictions.

Light up your playlists with Latino Pop artist YXani’s latest single, Son Igual.

Since his 2019 debut, the Latino pop artist YXani has garnered plenty of hype with his intrinsically evocative signature style. His latest release, Son Igual, is a downtempo RnB ballad that lets sun-kissed tones bleed into the mix as a contrast to the melancholic undercurrent that flows right through this modernist contribution to the airwaves.

Unilingual English minds may not be able to easily abstract the meaning from the Spanish lyrics, but that does little to harken the emotional intensity of the stylish and soulful release.

YXani’s latest single, Son Igual, is now available to stream on Spotify.

Nathasha Rumbos – Echate Pa Ya: Exotically Riff-Driven Pop

https://open.spotify.com/album/2WuQ9zVYBKaloFjqh8DhaP

I don’t know what I was expecting when I hit play on Venezuelan singer-songwriter Nathasha Rumbos’ seminal Latino Pop single “Echate Pa Ya” but my mind was unequivocally blown within the first 10 seconds.

The viscerally anthemic infusion of Latino Pop and extremely nuanced Rock was like nothing I’ve ever heard before. You’d probably be hard-pressed to find more impressive guitar solos in any Rock song, but with Echate Pa Ya you’ve also got the rhythmically danceable beats which are transfixing beyond definition.

The cherry on the aural cake are the insanely cutting lyrics “Your name is not on his phone, you’re just an unknown number”. How could we not be excited about Natasha Rumbos’ trailblazing career after hearing Echate Pa Ya?

Latino Reggaeton artist Rounna dropped their standout fiery mix Empaquetao as 2019 drew to a close, if you missed it, it’s our pleasure to introduce the rhythm-soaked danceable drop.

Now that summer is once again around the corner, it’s time to start reintroducing equally as tropical tracks to our playlists, and summer anthems don’t get much hotter than Empaquetao. The Reggaeton beats in Empaquetao may be contemporary and fresh, but the arrestive potency of the exotic rhythms remains. Unilingual minds may not be able to decipher the lyrics, but the grooves in the melodies are universally arrestive.

Soak Up the Exotic Melodies in NEZZA’s Latino Pop single “Corazón Frío”

Independent Latino Pop artist NEZZA dropped her sublimely exotic single “Corazón Frío” in February 2020; you’d struggle to find a 2020 release with the same warming vibrant melodic appeal.

The lyrics may be Spanish, but the soul poured into the track is universally resonant. The same can also be said for the rhythmically smooth, organically absorbing rhythms.

Latino music often comes with uniquely intricate rhythmic melodies, yet Corazón Frío pops with even more effervescent colour than you’re accustomed to thanks to the masterful production on the single. And it goes without saying that NEZZA’s vocals are the cherry on the cake of this sun-soaked earworm.

It’s a flawless release which any Latino Pop fan will want on their playlists.

Karrington – When in Barcelona: An Exotic Twist on 90s RnB Pop

Up and coming Pop artist Karrington has recently released her first 2020 single “When in Barcelona” which puts a fresh new Latina twist on 90s RnB-inspired Pop.

The stunning feat of aural escapism offers effervescent warmth through the exotic rhythms and Karrington’s dynamically arrestive bi-lingual vocals. With the Latina rhythms weaving into sun-soaked intricate melodies, you’ll be captivated by the time the prelude has run through.

It’s the ultimate winter warmer. More importantly, Karrington’s fourth single stands as a testament to how much her sound has matured since she made her debut in 2019 with the single “Stuck on You”.

Even though the wanderlust lyrical content is left fairly light When in Barcelona resonates as though it came straight from the soul.

Hayden Brenen x L.D.N – Mi Cariño: Exotically Fresh Urban Alt Pop

For their latest release, London-based Pop artist Hayden Brenen teamed up with L.D.N to create their fieriest drop to date “Mi Cariño” which is sweet enough to simultaneously appeal to Pop, Latino, Rap, and Hip Hop fans alike.

With the smooth harmonic Latino Pop vocals mixed with L.D.N’s grimy yet charismatic Rap bars, there was an insane amount of sun-kissed chemistry in the mix – and that’s even before you consider the vibrantly rhythmic beats.

The exotically danceable single is a celebration of aural multiculturism. Neither genre or geography could constrain the euphoric energy in Mi Cariño. Perceptibly, it was a track born from pure creative expression.
