I’ve been around the shoegaze and dream-pop block a fair few times, but the latest single, Lately., from the alt-indie artist, Tre. Charles, is a strikingly crystal-clear cut above the rest.

Leah Jean delivered an indie-jazz meditation in vulnerability and cathartic melody with her single, Stalker

Nashville-residing Indie-folk experimentalist, Leah Jean, laid down lo-fi jazz-infused blues in her latest dreamy trip-hop-y single, Stalker, taken from her upcoming debut album, Creatures in the Room.

Muses find us in the strangest places, but Leah Jean’s crept up behind her in this vocally soulful feat of indie Avant Garde, which uses playful subversion to turn her stalker into an almost affable entity that plays into her melancholy-tainted world in intimately fine detail.

With a lyrical narrative that sucks you in as much as the wavy saturated in delay instrumentals that swoonsomely envelop you in their kaleidoscopic colour, Stalker is a meditation in vulnerability and cathartic melody.

Nasty Geographic tracks the descent of the pedestal-placed icons of culture in his jazzy trip hop single, Canceled

Taken from his latest album, Crooner, Nasty Geographic’s seminal single, Canceled, is a glitchy synth-driven, jazz-spliced triumph of a societal dissection which sinks its claws into the destructive egotism of the fame-obsessed.

If there was ever a male equivalent to PJ Harvey, it is Nasty Geographic in this trippy, rhythmically grooving descent into the dystopia of the modern age which starts with a euphoric glow which sonically dims with the diminishment of renown and respect. A journey that most pedestal-placed icons of culture eventually take.

By day, the solo songwriter is a social-justice-driven lawyer, freeing the wrongly convicted from life sentences imposed by racially biased juries. By night, he pours his passion for social justice into his art, with all proceeds going to the International Bipolar Foundation and the Promise of Justice Initiative.

LJ Gomez proves that patience is a romantic virtue in his latest alt-indie single, Soon

Austin, TX alternative artist, LJ Gomez, let the soul pour in his hazily sweet latest lo-fi single, Soon. Fans of Radiohead, Bon Iver, Ye, and James Blake will want to bathe in the trippy tape-effect saturated guitar tones that complement the glitchy trip-hop beats.

By opening with the lyric, “is it possible to miss somebody that you never knew”, you’re instantly disarmed by LG Gomez’s candour and artful vulnerability. Even if the question was hypothetical, the answer is a resounding yes. There’s nothing quite as melancholy stirring as needing someone that doesn’t yet exist in your peripheral vision. And on the other hand, there’s nothing quite as sweet as the grasp of the belief that the right one is right around the corner.
