With Eastern world music elements putting an alchemic touch on the instrumentals and Rhisk’s enigmatically energetic rap bars falling into them, you couldn’t ask for a more galvanising hip hop playlist staple. CPTime brings it ‘Home’ in his latest high-vibe poppy hip hop single.

Douglassville-hailing artist CPTime has sent ripples through the Pennsylvania hip hop scene with his dynamic flows, constantly evolving style and commitment to keeping his lyricism clean.

His latest single, Home, pays ode to the people that instantly make us feel right at home in their company – regardless of where we are or how long they’ve been lighting up our lives. The grooving pop elements in this old school-inspired hip hop track ensure that right from the intro, you ironically feel right at home in the smooth, chill, soul-infused soundscape.

Home is a major sonic shift from CPTime’s popular Halloween track, Let Us Out, which saw his lyricism go conceptually dark as he channelled Freddy, Jason and Chucky to offer nefarious high vibes. There’s no anticipating where CPTime will take his sound next with his tendency to bounce between party hip hop, inspirational tracks and holiday tracks; high-quality remains the only constant.

Since 2012, he has released over 50 tracks on official streaming services; the most popular has racked up over 350,000 streams on YouTube alone.

The standout single, Pay-Per-View, is the perfect introduction to his high vibes, clever lyrical hooks, evocative indie textures and sun-kissed Afrobeat-inspired tones. Unless your soul is entirely defunct, you can’t help warming to Sean Hampton and his impassioned approach to contemporary hip hop. Any fans of Mac Miller, Post Malone, Juice WRLD and Machine Gun Kelly will want to save space on their radar for Hampton and his inevitable rise from the hip hop underground.

MoonLee brings the funk in his hip hop track, Lights Camera Action.

Any artist taking inspiration from the vastness of the universe is worth taking a chance on; we’re all too glad that we delved into MoonLee’s standout single, Lights Camera Action, from his latest album Moonrise.

With his intellectual approach to hip hop that makes reclamations from the darkness to bring vibrance, Lights Camera Action is as infectious as a dance hit as it is soulful. It is all too easy to quote good vibe tropes in lyrics but you immediately get the sense that the single came from an infinitely more mindful place that acknowledges the darkness before defiantly resisting it with a euphoric track that brings the soul around the romantically inclined sticky-sweet sentiment.

Transcend limitation with Henry Franck’s debut single, Focus, featuring Da Skorpion

Haitian American U.S. Army vet, Henry Franck, has dropped his debut single, Focus, featuring Da Sckorpion. The market for trippy inspirational hip hop may be niche, but Franck has what it takes to dominate it with his colourful indie hip hop melodies and introspectively deep lyrics.

The Floridian artist has been producing music around his role as a financial analyst since 200; his debut release tells you how well invested his time was in his production talent.
With the complex instrumental layers that echo with plenty of old school tapedeck delay in the high-quality production, Franck easily stayed clear of assimilation and allowed his authenticity to blossom in the transcendently sweet soundscape.

Focus is exactly the kind of track that you would turn to in search of aural compassion and a sign that you are on the right path, no matter how stagnant things feel in the moment.

Yungsta Guap plays the antagonist in Why They Mad, featuring Duke Deuce.

The antagonist energy in Yungsta Guap’s standout single, Why They Mad, featuring Duke Deuce, is instantly infectious. Right from the first verse, Yungsta Guap proves why his sound has been amassing hype since making his debut in 2019. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better balance of wit and grit. He finds clever ways to remind the listener that you can either lie down and accept adversity and persecuting judgement or you can play up to the ideas that others project on us and succeed in spite of it.

Along with creating viral-worthy tracks, the Atlanta-based independent rap artist and songwriter is also the founder of Grind Right 4Ever Entertainment. If any breaking artist has what it takes to stake a serious claim on the hip hop scene, our money is on Yungsta Guap.

Get your high vibes from Von Chinni’s latest single, Major Bop, which unravels as a hybrid of party hip hop and gritty hustler hip hop. Thanks to Von Chini, I can finally say it’s a bop without feeling a hint of shame.

The big bass-drenched beats dominate the instrumental mix as the cinematic old school stylings put plenty of atmosphere behind Von Chini’s clever rapid-fire vocals that give you a multi-faceted view of his character and independent voice that has been lacing the airwaves with introspection since his debut single in 2019.

Texas hip hop luminary G Peoples radiates in his latest single, Shine.

Texas’ brightest hip hop luminary, G Peoples, has pushed the envelope even further with the release of his single, Shine, which brings new soul to old school. The short and sweet hit uses its 2:22-minute duration to lull you into a state of optimism as G Peoples shares his infectious attitude over warm, jazzy and almost ethereal tones.

The artist, rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur’s career quickly gained traction with his debut single in 2019. It is no surprise that so many people have found meaning in his motivating lyricism and contemporary indie take on the soundscapes that have been winning us over since Uptown Records changed the face of hip hop forever.

Feenyx – Atlantan rap with a brand new ‘Horizon’

Raised by The Church and honed by the streets, Atlanta-based hip-hop artist and producer Feenyx is far from the typical rapper; on new single ‘Horizon’ we get a fresh combination of thunderous bass mixed with sampled brass and horns underlying Feenyx’s unique flow and grind. There’s elements of Snoop in here, little flourishes kind of reminiscent of Snow and that bombastic, edge-of-reggae delivery, it’s brash, loud, and in your face, with a catchy hook and that big, bold three-note ostinato phrase that lodges in your head for hours after listening. ‘Horizon’ is already getting national radio play, and – as Feenyx’s first single of 2021 – promises to be dropping hot in the clubs this summer.

Edword Evwrit wants to talk to us ‘Right Now’

Hailing from the Bay Area, California, Edword Evwrit is a solo hip hop artist, as well as a member of both Liquor Mouth and Lunaclick; ‘Right Now’ then is a delicious slab of old-school hip hop, funky and grooving, with a deep, deep pounding bass and a pretty little closed hi-hat pattern keeping everything ticking. At times it’s reminiscent of De La Soul, at others that questioning call-and-response rap style that Eminem does so, so well. There’s moments of ‘The Real Slim Shady’ here, mixed with little bits of ‘Three Feet High and Rising’ and Cube’s ‘Today Was A Good Day’.

Evwrit’s got some gorgeous flow, little double-rhymed couplets, some of the syllables cut up and spat bullet-like, others drawn out and rhythmic, with multiple rhyme patterns and a cute little semi-psychedelic drop at around the two-minute mark making ‘Right Now’ a cut above the average modern hip hop release; Evwrit’s rhyme patterns and intelligent wordplay, coupled with cracking backdrop instrumentation and arrangement, make this a stand-out track.
