Prepare for your feelings of inadequacy to be quashed by Emily Koko’s single ‘More Than That’

Emily Koko

We’ve been lucky enough to get a sneak peek of Emily Koko’s soul-driven RnB Pop single, ‘More Than That’, a lockdown-born single which navigates the relationship between love, confusion and feeling as though you’ll never be quite enough.

More Than That boldly proves that feelings of inadequacy are more of a commonality than we realise on a day to day basis. Those feelings are the trap door which allows us to fall into toxic relationships with people who not only allow us to question our worth but tell us that we deserve for all the self-deprecating talk to run through our heads.

Emily Koko’s lyrics are and smoothly soulful harmonic vocals are perfectly paired with the slow-tempo grooves in the Indie RnB Pop soundscape.  More Than That may only be her sophomore release, but she’s already exhibiting nuanced maturity in her sound. She’s undoubtedly one to watch.

You’ll have to wait a little longer before you check out More Than That. In the meantime, you can head over to Spotify and check out her debut single Together Alone.

Annie Scherer has released her sophomore Alt Neo-Classic Pop single “Andy Warhol”

Whatever your opinions on Andy Warhol, Alternative Singer-Songwriter Annie Scherer’s Alt Neo-Classic Pop single which pays a stunning ode to his style while painting metaphors of blossoming relationships definitely won’t leave you torn.

I can only imagine that people will find themselves similarly as inspired by Annie Scherer’s striking vocals and expressively boundless approach to songwriting.

The single may boast a timeless Pop ballad style, but with Annie Scherer’s unapologetically bold and slightly dark style which pulls in a myriad of stylistic elements, it boasts palpable amount of contemporary commercial appeal

Andy Warhol isn’t the only artist to have left an impact on Annie Scherer. She also takes inspiration from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Ray, Lorde and Florence and the Machine. Any fans of the aforementioned will undoubtedly appreciate Annie Scherer’s arrestingly soulful release.

We’ll definitely be fixing the NY-based artist firmly on our radars to stay up to date with her future releases.

Pop Artist Hugo Basclain Releases their Latest Pensive Alt Pop Ballad “Veins”

https://soundcloud.com/ugoasclain/veins-1

Australian singer-songwriter Hugo Basclain has recently released their evocatively intense Pop single “Veins”. By hitting play, you’ll throw yourself headfirst into the refreshing distinction of the uniquely compelling Ballad. With elements of Classic Pop combined with a contemporary Indie feel, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve heard someone spill their souls through a single. Veins is a soundscape which makes very little apology about getting under your skin.

By far the most striking aspect of the single is the way in which the narrative gradually unfolds against the semi-orchestral piano-led soundscape as the lyrics become increasingly candid with each verse. It’s the perfect track to test whether your soul is still functioning or not.

Melanie Joy – Screaming into Pillows: A Stormy, Artful Pop Ballad

Before I even pressed play on Melanie Joy’s single “Screaming into Pillows” I knew that it would be a powerful, compelling soundscape.

There aren’t all too many singer-songwriters bold enough to use such striking imagery in their releases. But thankfully, not every artist feels the inclination to portray themselves as a plasticised vacuous deity. Melanie Joy has created a captivatingly candid single with Screaming into Pillows; a soundscape defined by its melancholic frustration, and cinematic instrumental arrangement.

The raw honesty and dramatically intense classic pop single hooks you in right from the prelude. From there on out, you’re treated to Melanie Joy’s nuanced, perfectly poised vocals which contain plenty of distinction in the stormy, artful pop ballad.

You can check out Screaming into Pillows along with the rest of Melanie Joy’s album “Out of the Wreckage” for yourselves by heading over to Spotify now.
