Young Monte delivers chill trap transcendence in his latest release, Sky

Young Monte

Chill trap originator, Young Monte, has added yet another downtempo vibe-out staple to his collection. The chill trap remix of his single Sky plays with ethereal layers of reverb, neo-classic piano keys, a meditative 808 rattle and Young Monte’s hypnotically stretched out low timbered vocals that bring a resounding depth to the otherwise transcendent release.

Based on the catharsis that can easily be abstracted from the artfully laidback soundscape, we can only hope he has a chill trap mixtape in the works. My soul feels infinitely lighter for immersing it in sky. He’s definitely one for the radar.

Chill trap prodigy Young Monte teases his hypnotically soulful sound in his latest demo.

Chill trap newcomer, Young Monte, has been teasing the airwaves with his short and sweet demo releases; his latest chillwave demo efficaciously caught our attention; it is enough to change your definition of mellow.

Despite the minimalism in the instrumentals, there is nothing about the easy, wavy grooves that feels sparse. The clever use of rhythmic ambience and spatial effect allowed the demo to deliver catharsis with a serious side-serve of soul, which mostly comes as a side-effect of the artists hypnotically smooth vocal timbre. We can’t wait to hear a full chillwave trap track from Young Monte; he’s discernibly one to watch.

YXani – At Night: Emotively Piercing Chill Trap

YXani has made his debut with a captivating offering of emotively raw Chill Trap. “At Night” is an intricately beautiful mix which combines English and Spanish vocals for a nice hit of cultural vibrancy.

Whether you can translate the Spanish vocals or not is of very little importance due to how poised and poignant YXani’s delivery of the vocals are. How YXani managed to cook up a beat which was as transcendental as it was intricate and hard-hitting was nothing short of aural alchemy. But I suppose it had a lot to do with the clever use of atmospherics which lingered between the layers in this stunning single. The quality of the production allowed every note of the mix including the quaint progressions on the guitar to ring with resonance. While YXani’s naturally striking vocal style had absolutely no use for autotune.
