Sound Animal sang a liminal lullaby in her ethereal experimental piece, A Life

Taken from her upcoming experimental solo album, Sound Animal’s arcanely euphonic single, A Life, is an all too intriguing teaser for the psychedelically exploratory alchemy that is sure to follow.

With its hallowed structures, the Berkley, California artist pushed lush reverb into unchartered ethereal waters. Through synths and sermonic non-lexical vocals that combine to create an otherworldly listening experience, A Life will easily take you out of the physical realm into a space decorated with liminal sonic symbolism.

Stream A Life on SoundCloud and save the date for the album, which will release on Bandcamp on SoundCloud on December 7th, before being distributed on December 15th.

When Mountains Speak pays homage to Coltrane in their celestially Avant-Garde release Electric Trane

When Mountains Speak

‘Electric Trane’ is the latest spiritual-to-the-point-of-celestial ambient world music piece from the Coltrane-inspired artist, When Mountains Speak (Steven Wright Clarkson).

Between the entrancingly tribal drums, the Eastern-inspired strings, and the gorgeous layers of dark and light electronic effect, Electric Trane brings ambient music into a brand-new realm. Sure, it hits you with a heady dose of catharsis, yet, by permitting this track to arrest your rhythmic pulses and allowing the soundscape to get darker and more enticing as it progresses, Electric Trane became so much more than a sonic experience. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to a Glenn Branca Fan, yet, the 8-minute release is undoubtedly one of the most spiritual I will hear this year.

Slip back to the 60s with Free Whenever’s ambient psych-pop single, Echo, featuring filo sofia.

Brooklyn-based duo Free Whenever’s latest single, Echo, is a tranquil feat of psych-tinged ambience that pulls you through the blossoming improvised progressions while the featuring artist, filo sofia, brings plenty of dream-pop-noir style to the hypnotically sublime soundscape.

If you fed an Angel Olsen single a few Ambien, the sonic palette wouldn’t be far from the amalgamation of soul, pop, jazz and 60s psych on offer here. You’d be seriously hard-pressed to find mellower vibes than those soulfully extended in Echo. It’s a nostalgia hit like no other. For my sanity’s sake, Echo will be left on repeat.

Echo officially released on October 1st; you can delve into the hazy accordance for yourselves by heading over to Soundcloud.

Clara Day has made her hauntingly hypnotic debut with ‘The Ritual’

Bristol-based singer-songwriter, Clara Day, made her debut with the stunning Psych Folk single, ‘The Ritual’, on December 17th, without a hint of hyperbole, it may be the most enthralling single released in 2020.

By taking inspiration from 70s folk horror films, Clara Day was able to bring hypnotically hexing energy to the ambient semi-orchestral single which oozes sensuality, beguile and tender intimacy, all in equal measure.

Any fans of Mazzy Star, Angel Olsen and Big Thief will find Clara Day’s haunting vocal timbre just as enchanting. Yet, with the celestial psychedelia which the singer-songwriter brings to her transfixing sound, there’s an extra layer of alchemy to sink your teeth into.

Sun Lite has dropped their Psychedelically Entrancing Cold Wave single “M.O.T.H.E.R.”

Belgian solo artist Sun Lite is here with their mesmeric era and genre-blending single “M.O.T.H.E.R.” Hit play and prepare to fall down the entrancing rabbit hole which was dug out with elements of Blues, 60’s Psych, Funk and EDM.

It transcends stunning. It’s an aural exhibition of harrow orchestrated with nothing more than a laptop, a keyboard, an acoustic guitar and Sun Lite’s intensely phantasmal vocals which are sure to be a hit with any fans of The Chameleons and Peter Murphy.

With hints of tribalism, your rhythmic pulses will be efficaciously arrested by the soundscape which leaves plenty of room for mind-warping experimentalism.

In short, M.O.T.H.E.R. is an obsession-worthy track for any staunch fans of psychedelia. Unlike so many Psychedelically-inspired artists, it’s more than just an ode to the past. The darkness which crawls through the single will stay with you for long after the psychedelic cold wave single has faded to a close.

UK Alt artist 8udDha bl0od has released their enticingly chilling ambient soundscape “The Lost Pleiad”

Aural enigma 8udDha bl0od has unleashed yet another enticingly chilling soundscape on the airwaves with their latest release “The Lost Pleiad”.

It takes an unholy amount of talent to create an experimental track which offers instant magnetic appeal, but that’s exactly what 8udDha bl0od achieved with his ambiently beguiling single. The tones may have bordered on celestial but didn’t mean that 8udDha bl0od had to hold back on his almost Machiavellianly mischievous ingenuity.

From start to finish, The Lost Pleiad was mesmeric and all-consuming. Around the inventive electronic effects, you’ll find sporadic offerings of angularly picked guitar strings and tranquil pools of reverb which will convince you to hit play time and time again.

There’s no adjective more fitting for The Lost Pleiad than stunning. As always, we can’t wait to hear what 8udDha bl0od has in the pipeline.
