A lot of Hip Hop Rap artists have attitude, yet the fact that Tia P’s shines so much brighter than the rest stands as a testament her incandescent talent. The Inglewood, US rapper, songwriter & producer released her latest single ‘Revolution’ in February 2018 and it’s absolutely sensational. I love the nostalgic use of old TV snippets to introduce the track, when Tia breaks through with her relentless rhythmic rap my mind blew a little bit. With more energy and passion than Missy Elliot & Lil Kim, I can’t wait to see where Tia’s sound is going to take her. Her contemporary attack of sound is exactly what the Hip-Hop genre needed. Previously I’ve only seen this kind of veracious attitude through the Riot Grrrl female-fronted Punk movement, but Tia uses her soulfully domineering voice and puts it against a refreshingly pioneering sound. Tia’s latest track Revolution was an anthemic inspirational masterpiece for other women to take note of. Tia P. May just be the best Feminist in Hip Hop.
