In recent years, I’ve come to wonder if Soul as a genre is worthy of its name, thankfully, my faith was restored when I had the pleasure of discovering the ethereal masterpiece “Staring at the Darkness” by breaking R&B & Soul artist TheCommonUnknown.
“Staring at the Darkness” is just one of the singles to feature on the Dubai-based artist and producer’s latest EP “Lustxology” which offers a myriad of different soundscapes, but arguably, none are quite as striking as Staring at the Darkness. The track may sound bleak in name, but the delicate, deftly melodic masterpiece is one of the most uplifting we’ve checked out this year.
