Tough on Fridays

The gloves are off in Tough on Fridays’ swaggeringly infectious indie alt-rock hit, The Awakening

Taken from their trailblazing alt-rock, indie, and grunge amalgam of an LP, The Encore You Didn’t Ask For, Tough on Fridays’ standout single, The Awakening, is a sure-fire hit of vindication for anyone who knows how bitter-sweet goodbyes can be when betrayal was the final parting shot.

With the same energy as Shitlist by L7, the grungy and Riot Grrrl to the core powerhouse lived up to the hype that has been brewing around them as they’ve taken the Texas music circuit by storm in the last six years.

The compellingly raw vocal lines add a demure touch to the swaggering power rock instrumental aesthetics of the track, which prove how much Tough on Fridays has honed their sound. Their infectious scream-the-chorus-from-the-top-of-your-lungs appeal is only getting more visceral with each new release.

It’s rare to find an outfit offering as much substance as style, but Tough on Fridays is anything but your run-of-the-mill paint-by-numbers outfit. Their soul, scorn and scuzzy riffs are just a few of the reasons you should reserve a place for them on your radar.

The Awakening is now available to stream on Spotify.

Texan trio, Tough on Fridays take us through a tender transition in their indie pop track, Growing Pains

With hints of the Cranberries and other iconic 90s pop contemporaries, Tough on Fridays delivered nostalgia with a cinematic edge that could make their latest single, Growing Pains, the highlight of the OST for the next coming-of-age Hollywood blockbuster.

The momentously oceanic single is definitive proof that the Texan trio has come a long way from where they started five years ago as an angst-driven duo. Lauded for their energetic performances and acclaimed in their home state, it is only a matter of time before Tough on Fridays reach the heights they are destined for. Growing Pains is undoubtedly one of the finest testaments to their songwriting tenacity to date; getting carried away with the simple yet efficaciously magnetic chords is pretty much non-optional.

Tough on Fridays’ latest single, Growing Pains, is now available to stream on SoundCloud.

Georgetown grunge trio Tough on Fridays released their most relatable single yet with Cabin Fever.

Georgetown grunge trio Tough on Fridays has been on our radar since we heard their unforgettable 2018 single, ‘The Waywards’. With their latest single, Cabin Fever, their pop-punk edge has been stripped-back and replaced by doom-laden tones that will win over any fans of Porcupine Tree.

The gloomy, progressive anthem, complete with a thrashing rhythm section and angular cutting guitar notes that bring Shoegaze nuances into the mix, is a raw admission of the frustration experienced while locked away from normality.

What makes Cabin Fever so intense and cathartic is the realism of the angst. It was delivered in the same despondent way we’ve all been feeling over the past year.

Cabin Fever officially released on May 3rd; you can check it out for yourselves by visiting Tough on Fridays’ website.

Texan Alt Rock newcomers Tough on Fridays tease the release of their sophomore album “Ways to Kill Time”

Tough on Fridays are set to release their sophomore album on September 4th. Ahead of the highly-anticipated release, we’ve been given a sneak peek of the infectiously catchy single “Pleased to Meet You”.

The Georgetown, TX artist’s Grungy Pop Punk sound may just restore any faith which you’ve lost in this generation’s up and coming artists. With the sharp melodic hooks, euphoric choruses and scathingly visceral vocals it’s safe to say that Pleased to Meet You comes with a fairly vicious Pop Punk bite. No review of Pleased to Meet You would be complete mentioning the captivating nuances of Post Punk which helps draw the dynamic track to a close. The cutting angular solo work even gives Daniel Kessler (Interpol) a run for his money.

Any fans of Dream Wife, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Airborne Toxic Event and The Regrettes won’t want to miss out on the release of what promises to be one of the hottest album drops of 2020.

A Fantastic Way to Kill Time will be available via all major streaming platforms from September 4th. In the meantime, you can check out their earlier releases via SoundCloud.

Tough on Fridays have returned with their resonantly visceral modernistic take on Alt 90s with the release of “Simplicity III”

Georgetown, TX Alt-Rock powerhouse Tough on Fridays blew us away when they appeared on our radar with their 2-track release “Simplicity II”.

On July 3rd they dropped “Simplicity III” in the style of 7” release with A side and B side singles. Yet, you’ll find that both tracks are equally as evocative and artfully intense. Tough on Fridays brought Alt 90s nuances right into the 21st century with their melodically resolving, lyrically lacerating style.

Track 1, “Lonely Eyes/Pines” may be a piercingly emotional aural experience, but you can’t hold it against Tough on Fridays for hitting you with undiluted apathetic resonance. Seeing as the whole globe has gone through extensive isolation prior to the release, I can only imagine how many people will find themselves in the candidly connectable track.

Track 2, “Out of the Blue (The Deep End)” perfectly follows on from Lonely/Eyes with a slightly amplified sound and an even more visceral angsty bite. There aren’t many tracks which could simultaneously appease fans of L7 and contemporary ennui-laden Pop Punk, but Tough on Fridays discernably succeeded.

You can check out Simplicity III for yourselves by heading over to Spotify now.
