The Notorious B.I.G.

looCcaM remixed reality in his 90s NY Hip-Hop meets Avant-Garde Sci-Fi sonics rap track, Trumpet of the Martians

If the spacey conviction in Legend Has It by Run the Jewels left you hooked, prepare to be ensnared all over again by the latest track, Trumpet of the Martians, from the cosmically urban innovator, looCcaM.

If someone asked Nas, Jay-Z or the Notorious B.I.G. to pour their 90s NY rap flavour into a Doctor Who soundtrack, the result would be as scintillatingly convictive as this Avant-Garde boom bap homage to futuristic poetics, which simultaneously unravels as a high-fire rebuke to neoliberal dogmatism.

Following the release of Trumpet of the Martians, the Buffalo, NY native will release his LP, Silence Exile Cunning, on October 19, which was innovatively crafted to synthesise beat culture with iconography which has previously had no place in the rap scene. Expect everything from electro-punk to hyper-pop to experimental poetry. In looCcaM, we believe.

Juufro has made their 2020 debut with the ensnaring retro-futuristic Rap track “In Da Bag”

Floridian Rap artist Juufro has the flow, he’s got the fire, and now he’s got the ultimate testament to their blazing talent with the retro-futuristic Hip Hop drop “In Da Bag”.

The relentless pacing of the mix almost makes listening to it unravel a hypnotic experience. From the first verse, you’ll be locked into their ensnaring Rap bars which find perfect synergy with the rounded tonally explorative beats.

Even though some of the lyrical hooks are scathing, there’s still an ominous playfulness to the track which makes it all too easy to warm to Juufro from the first hit.

Any fans of J. Cole, Snoop Dogg, The Notorious B.I.G. and Jack Harlow will definitely want to give this release some attention.

Sherwood Rahming Tells Us All About His High School Crush In Laid Back Tune “The One That Got Away”

Sherwood Rahming is an upcoming hip-hop talent from the Bahamas fusing straight forward lyrics and themes with a soulful vibe and laid back groove. In his song “The One That Got Away” he in fact freely expresses his feelings for his high school crush through lyrics which a lot of people can relate to. But writing passionate thematic material is not Sherwood’s only forte. With jazzy trumpet and guitar lines flowing throughout the instrumental basis of the song a cool and natural aspect is created. Apart from this, the lyrics are also expressed in a light way which subtly and gracefully brings out the humorous aspect behind the theme.

With evident influences from the greats of Neo Soul Sherwood Rahming’s sound in “The One That Got Away” explores mellow relaxed bass grooves, natural guitar lines, sporadic delicate piano tones and a deep warm voice that matter of factly delivers the lyrics with a relaxed tone. All these elements culminate in an organic sound that is both enjoyable and quite interesting, showcasing Sherwood’s musical capabilities and desire to celebrate love even in its simplest and most natural forms while raising his listener’s vibrations to a higher level. This young upcoming talent is definitely one to keep an eye out for!
