Sandbender – Apostrophes: Soul-Sating Ambient Psy Noise

After playing in punk rock bands and dabbling with prog rock, the artist behind the sandbender moniker turned his noise-enthusiast inclinations to orchestrating ambiently psychedelic dub electronica.

His sophomore album, hiding moon, was officially released on April 2nd. The standout single, Apostrophes, is an opulently transcendent ode to the 90s era of electronica, with influences from Orbital, Leftfield and The Crystal Method all drifting fleetingly into the single that is also touched by the style of the noisier outfits Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Infected Mushroom.

The art of immersive ambience is one that few artists and producers will ever truly master; only a handful of electronica artists possess the ability to entrance the listener. It is safe to say that sandbender is one of the most visionary amongst them. The beguiling complexities within Apostrophes make the 6-minute duration a capsule of catharsis.

Hiding moon is now available to stream in full via SoundCloud. For more info, head over to sandbender’s official website.

Lux Kiddo has released his harsh electronic hit, Robot Curmudgeon

With percussive inspiration from the likes of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, Lux Kiddo’s latest harsh electronica mix, Robot Curmudgeon, flows with an ensnaring tempo and an even more magnetic pull through the progressive influence of Infected Mushroom.

The Brooklyn-born, Phoenix-based experimental artist has worked as a sound tech and musician since the relocation from his home town; in 2020, he dropped his debut album Cityscapes. Now that dancefloors are back open, we’re sure they will be eager to hear more of his uniquely explorative style that uses familiar industrial/EBM elements with refreshing melodic flair.

Robot Curmudgeon was released on August 5th; you can check it out for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.

Neemkeez has dropped his debut big beat hip hop album, Sugar Brain.

San Francisco-hailing rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Neemzkeez is to hip hop what The Prodigy is to electronica. After releasing his ground-breaking debut album, Sugar Brain, it’s clear that his viscerally ensnaring music is anything but mainstream, but it carries all of the potential.

With his tendency to take inspiration from everything from the alt 90s, shoegaze and cloud rap, the album is a flawless feat of electronic innovation. The perfect introduction to Neemkeez sound is irrefutably ‘Overload’, which carries the progressive momentum of Infected Mushroom’s most euphoric mixes.

Hit play, and you won’t fail to be galvanised by the rapid-fire rap bars, melodic rap increments, caustic bass-riding beats, and Persian rhythms that represent Neemkeez’ cultural heritage.

Sugar Brain is an insanely promising debut. We can’t wait to hear what follows.

You can check out Neemkeez’ debut album that dropped on June 11th, 2021, via Spotify.
