Escape with Sentry’s lo-fi future bass track, ‘Take Me Away’.

UK-based electronica producer Sentry may only be two months on from his debut release, but he’s already racking up streams like there’s no tomorrow with their entrancing feats of lo-fi future bass.

His recently released single, ‘Take Me Away’, is a stunning showcase of his ability to lead listeners away from external chaos and douse them in the serenity of aural euphoria. What starts as an immersion into a tranquil pool of reverb-drenched synth ambience, seamlessly evolves into an ensnaring tidal wave of visceral emotion and harsh snares. Only when you reach the outro, you realise what a profound experience Take Me Away was. Your first hit definitely won’t be your last.

Embark on a spiritual journey with Makichi’s indie-electro psych album ‘The Rain Stopped’.

‘The Rain Stopped’ is the latest album released by Strasbourg-residing Iranian duo, Makichi. Their mystically experimental 10-track take on indietronica incorporates the work of Iranian poets, pulls the soul out of Persian rhythm and manifests through darkly psychotropic melodies.

The album kicks off with a semi-spoken-word piece that sets the evocative tone and prepares you for what’s to come from the border and a boundary-obliterating release that explores the duo’s experience living in and moving from Iran. But The Rain Stopped is just so much more than an account of experience. The concept album acts as a guide toward enlightenment and redemption; follow the ambient grooves, you’ll find it.

‘Wrong Humans’ follows the prelude with bass-riding indietronica beats which melodically shatter the monocultural mould beneath the overlapping dual vocals. Despite the diversity between the singles on the release, Instrumentalist and producer Ash made it practically impossible to pick out reference to other artists. Their artistic vision looks far beyond the usual fusing, reviving and recycling of former and current artists work. The album is an invitation to find piety, despite religion, despite nationality. Whatever corner of the globe you currently find yourself on, whatever the state of your faith, The Rain Stopped has something to offer everyone.

Zeli has left the indie electronica scene enraptured with her debut single ‘Almost’

‘Almost’ is the dreamy darkwave debut single from Zeli, an 18-year-old artist and producer who has already left the indie electronica scene enraptured with her intimate approach to production and lyricism.

Billie Eilish comparisons are easy to make but capturing the evocative sensuality behind this moody electro-pop hit is infinitely harder.

The entrancingly dark synth-led melodies groove at a steady tempo, ensuring that each syllable projected into Almost leaves you arrested until you reach the ethereal outro which will undoubtedly leave you feeling as eager as us to hear the London-based artist and producer’s sophomore release.

00s RnB Meets Futurepop in Mali Hâf’s latest single ‘Refreshing’ featuring Shamoniks

Mali Hâf’s magnetic attitude burns right through her latest offering of stylish bass-driven RnB electronic pop, ‘Refreshing’ featuring Shamoniks. With reverberant intensely layered beats beneath her vocals which soar with reminiscences of Nelly Furtado and Natasha Bedingfield, there’s a nice ode to 00s RnB within the distinctively arrestive hit.

On the basis of Refreshing, Welsh singer-songwriter Mali Hâf has all the potential to join the likes of Marina and the Diamonds, Cerys Matthews and Nina Persson in the ranks of iconic Welsh artists. She’s already in possession of strikingly sultry vocal dynamics which don’t just pull you into a sonic experience, but the emotion it was created with. She’s definitely one to watch.

Frank Michaels showcases their constraint-less charisma with their alt-indie electronica debut ‘2 Weeks’

If you’ve lost all concept of time, Frank Michaels’ single, 2 Weeks, may not be able to help in that regard, but it does provide 2:19-minutes of alt-indie electronica experimentalism which will set your synapses alight, and let’s face it, dopamine is hard to come by these days.

By fusing elements of trippy indie hip hop, electronica and funk-driven pop into atypically galvanising and glitchy progressions, the Toronto-hailing songwriter and producer created the perfect platform for their dream pop-Esque vocals which bring a sense of tranquillity and soul.

COVID-19 may have a lot to answer to for, but the inspiration it gave so many artists to take the bull by the aural horns and make their debut is definitely a silver-lining. Frank Michaels can discernibly count himself amongst the artists making these bleak times a little brighter with their constraint-less charismatic sound.

Hit play on Cayetano’s infectious electro mix ‘Get Back (To Real)’ and Resume Reality

Cayetano’s latest feat of alt-electronica, ‘Get Back (To Real)’, kicks off with an instantaneously entrancing hook. From there on out, you’re dragged along by the euphoria-dripping glitchy funk-drunk tides. Any fans of Big Black Delta are going to want to delve into the intensely-packed mix which features collaborative artist, Georges Perin.

Get Back may remind you that dancefloors across the globe are accruing dust instead of being a platform for sweet hedonistic memories, but you’ll struggle to feel morose with this track which breaks the monocultural mould. Cayetano’s international lifestyle is stamped down in his passport as much as it is in his sound. There really is no room to wonder how he manages to hold so much acclaim on such a global scale.

People Of The Parallel drop classy new single ‘Eyes And See’

Electro-pop in a dubstep/dance-pop style from Nashville Tennessee, People Of The Parallel is the brainchild of vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Justin Michael, and new single ‘Eyes And See’ is a properly mature, extremely well-put-together piece of work. A mix of styles and influences here, but not jarring or lacking in cohesion, Michael takes inspirations as diverse as Billy Joel, Skrillex, Dr. Dre, and Glitch Mob, mixing them up to create a cracking piece of EDM-pop.

The production skills on display are masterful, the track rising and falling to create an airiness and space whilst never dropping away or losing energy, the vocal-line carrying the track alongside the synths and beats to create a track oozing personal style and character.

Gabe Angelo x Neguine Niktash deliver exactly what we need with ‘A Miracle’

If you’re always in search of the aurally miraculous, that is exactly what you will find in the latest high-vibe hit from producer Gabe Angelo featuring vocals from US singer-songwriter Neguine Niktash.

Neguine Niktash’s soulfully sonorous vocals have seen her influenced by artists such as Ashe, SHAED and Maggie Rogers and it is all too easy to see why such a wide-ranging array of artists shine through in this track. There’s more than just power and pitch-perfect harmony behind her connectable vocal timbre, there’s soul, sincerity and an overwhelming amount of compassion.

As it feels like a miracle is exactly what is needed to pull us out of our contemporary sufferance thanks to a crumbling socio-political climate and Covid-19, it’s hard to see A Miracle as anything less than a playlist essential for Future Pop fans.

Sonarus – On My Way: Multiculturally Eclectic EDM

Dundee, Scotland-hailing artist, Sonarus brought her multicultural and multi-ethnic roots to her latest mesmerising single, ‘On My Way’. With elements of Afro Tech, Progressive Tech and Trance all breathing life into the galvanising mix, it’s as euphoric as it is intricately ingenious.

As trippy beats indulgently jar against arrestive synth-led melodies, Sonarus paints right across the tonal palette with cold chilling tones brushing up against transcendently light entrancing beats. Yet, the true hypnotic essence of On My Way lies within Sonarus’ smoothly evocative vocal timbre which is as close to an aural cuddle as you’re going to get.

If you could imagine what it would sound like if Shiny Toy Guns and Warpaint met in the middle, you’ll get an idea of what is in store when you hit play on this relentlessly enrapturing release.

Escape reality and jet set through the 5th dimension with Praise & Warships’ synthy sweet single ‘Contact’

Global traversing may have been made difficult this year, but that’s not to say you can’t partake in jet setting through the 5th dimension with a little help from sonically entrancing tracks such as the latest release from Alt Electronica artist Praise & Warships.

In their latest futuristically danceable single, Contact, you’ll find catchy synth hooks, lashings of funk and overwhelmingly resonant lyrics. The repetition of ‘I just need contact’ brings a powerful relatable element to the otherwise playful and eccentric single. Hit play and you might almost forget that you’ve been starved of contact this year.
