Grunge Nirvana Heart-Shaped Box

Claytonisokay – Planet Prison: Resonantly Magnetic Grunge-Laden Hip Hop

Claytonisokay

Any Nirvana fans will undoubtedly be drawn in by the prelude of Manhattan-based Alternative artist Claytonisokay’s recently released second single “Planet Prison”.

The grungy ennui-laden air still lingers within the instrumentals from the first verse, but to create a distinctively cutting track, Claytonisokay pulled in elements of Pop, Trap, and RnB before fading out on a distorted sample of Nirvana’s Heart-Shaped Box.

He may have borrowed a few stylistic nuances from Cobain, yet, with the RnB Hip Hop lyrics, Claytonisokay perceptibly didn’t fail to put their own stamp on the airwaves.

We’re all feeling fairly trapped right now, and the poetic flex in the lyrics which allude to self-inflicted mental constraints perfectly captures the strange emotions that we’re all undoubtedly feeling right now.

If the resonance in the soundscape alone wasn’t a good enough reason to hit play, Claytonisokay will be donating all of the streaming proceeds to charity.
