https://open.spotify.com/album/6HoyOorjWcHAZc4n5uIzfF

It’s sultry, it’s retro, it’s euphoric, it’s Elta Wave’s eccentrically electric 5th single “Dance Floor Dance”.

Finding distinction within a Dance Pop track may be harder than finding a needle in a haystack, but you can’t help but be hooked in by Elta Wave’s magnetic personality in the danceable high-vibe hit. I should probably warn you now that the melody will stick to your synapses like superglue.

There are nuanced textures of Funk and Disco weaved into the contemporary mix which kicks off and concludes by throwing playful polyphonic notes your way. You’re instantly given the affirmation that Dance Floor Dance is an accessible from the first hit mix.

There’s no understating the commercial potential in Elta Wave’s sound. You’ll have to hear the infectious rhythms for yourselves.

Melt into the Experimental Funk in Benzo Fabulous’ Alt Pop single “Jonathan in Jerusalem”

For some artists, experimentalism comes at the cost of accessibility, yet up and coming Alt-Pop artist Benzo Fabulous found the perfect balance in their Lo-Fi Garage Pop single “Jonathan in Jerusalem”.

Discernibly, Benzo Fabulous allows their creativity to lead the way when constructing their singles instead of their desire to appeal to the masses with a plastic and uniform sound. As a result, Jonathan in Jerusalem is laden with Psychedelic Funk and has plenty of Avant-Garde aural mayhem to throw your way.

The Brighton-based artist is definitely one to watch if you enjoy melting into off the cuff and endearingly eccentric tracks.

Pop, Blues, and Neo-Soul seamlessly converge in Mama Yaya’s sultrily sublime latest single “Devil”

If there’s any Alt Pop artist we’re stoked to hear more from this year, it’s the sultrily sublime newcomer Mama Yaya.

Her fans were treated to yet another infectiously Funk-riddled hit with the release of her single “Devil” which dropped on May 29th. In Devil, grooving Neo-Soul meets roots-deep Blues Rock and Pop. Despite the levels of distinction which are impossible to miss, Devil is an incredibly accessible radio-ready hit which stays with you long after the track has faded to a close.

The driving snappy beats paired with bendy basslines and bluesy guitar licks form the perfect platform for the bewitching vocal style which consistently evolves through the dynamic earworm.

Sam Mudd has released their debut Polyphonic EDM Pop Earworm “Where Are You?”

Up and coming artist Sam Mudd has made their lockdown debut with the polyphonically electric Pop hit “Where Are You (All Up)” and stamped down their authentically expressive style.

The Lo-Fi track kicks off with a melodic guitar intro before sliding into an energetic EDM Pop beat layered with Sam Mudd’s effect-laden vocals which find perfect synergy with the entrancing rhythms.

As much as we appreciated the artist’s quintessentially endearing style, the reverb and use of autotune were slightly excessive. But that’s not to say there isn’t plenty of potential to be found in Where Are You. Any artist willing to be so bold with their debut track is more than worth having on your radar.

Roadx – It’s Going Down: Curve-creating Soul-Soaked Electro Pop Funk

https://soundcloud.com/roadx/its-going-down

If it’s been a while since an up and coming Alternative artist has left you adrenalized by their curve creating ingenuity, hit play on the Funk-riddled mix It’s Going Down from breaking Berlin-based artist Roadx.

Finding the perfect balance between Funk, Electro Pop and Soul, Roadx created sultry expressive earworm which will stick to your synapses like superglue. It transcends transcendence and offers danceable beats which give you very little option in whether you’ll move to them.

I got just as excited hearing It’s Going Down as I did the first time I heard John Grant’s nuanced take on Electronica. If you think that sounds like hyperbole, try resisting the danceable energy which the chorus will throw at you.

8udDha bl0od – HAppY 5AD: Pr!nce DjAng0 PURple fA!n of 3<35

8udDha bl0od is one of the most versatile artists we’ve encountered in 2020, with each new release they blow our minds a little more, and their recently released romantically nostalgic single “HAppY 5AD: Pr!nce DjAng0 PURple fA!n of 3<35” was no exception.

HAppY 5AD: Pr!nce DjAng0 PURple fA!n of 3<35 felt like an aural cuddle. Just why the blend of Progressive Synth Pop and 60s Psych was consoling I’m not all too sure, but the consciousness-devouring soundscape is extremely efficacious all the same. I have a feeling that any fans of ELO will definitely want to make HAppY 5AD: Pr!nce DjAng0 PURple fA!n of 3<35 a staple track on their playlists.

HAppY 5AD: Pr!nce DjAng0 PURple fA!n of 3<35 will be available for release along with the rest of the album from May 17th via SoundCloud. In the meantime, you can check out the artists myriad of dynamic releases.

Loosh – Get Out the House: Polyphonic Hip Hop Pop

https://youtu.be/AjcoezOI9Bk

Loosh’s latest Alt Pop single “Get Out the House” is exactly what you want to hear when you hit play on a new artist.

It’s got that instantaneous draw as your mind attempts to get to grips with a beguilingly fresh new soundscape, and the progressive track has quite the aural trip in store. From polyphonic key solos to Hip Hop-style grooves to moodily convictive Alt Pop vocals, Get Out the House contains it all plus plenty of other intricate nuances which affirm that Loosh puts innovation and expression at the forefront when writing their tracks.

If you’re as tired as assimilative uninspired music as I am, go and restore your faith in contemporary musicians. It may have been bad timing to release a track called Get Out of the House just before the world went into lockdown mode. Yet, we can appreciate the sentiment all the same.

Every once in awhile, it’s possible that you’ll stumble across a track which offers massive beats and an even more sizeable serving of soul. That’s just what we delved into when Electronic Pop artist Dakota Chappy appeared on our radar.

Super Love – Stream it and Chill: Exotic Indie Pop

Super Love

We’ve been hooked on experimental Indie artist Super Love’s sound ever since we heard their debut single in 2019. After hearing their third single “Stream it and Chill”, we’re fairly certain that it’s going to be a long-lasting love affair.

Stream it and Chill moves away from the sentimentally captivating Alt Indie Pop style which they orchestrated for the first two singles. This time, the exotic fingerpicked guitar rhythms find a beguilingly arrestive contrast with the digital futuristic beats. The experimental instrumental layering creates the platform for Constance Watkins’ hypnotically harmonic Alt Pop vocals.

Tracks such as Stream it and Chill are exactly what we need on the airwaves right now. It’s an unapologetically love-soaked aural delight which will remind you that the world isn’t as hostile and hateful as mainstream media would have you believe.

You’ll have to wait a little longer before you can check out Stream it & Chill for yourselves. In the meantime, you can head over to Spotify and check out Super Love’s earlier releases.

lily hughes – together: Delicately Lynchian Dreampop

https://soundcloud.com/lily_hughes/together-prod-by-yusei

Shoegaze and Pop seamlessly entwine in up and coming Alt Pop artist lily hughes’ standout single “together”.

The Lynchian and abstract soundscape may be a little lighter and softer than you’ll be accustomed to hearing. But the gentle nature of the minimalistic beats and the delicate mesmerism of the vocals will make sure that when you hit play on together, your attention has little chance of faltering.

The production style with together may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for anyone who likes to slip into comforting reverb-laced dreamscapes, you’re sure to appreciate the captivating distinction in together.
