Misty Drinx went back to the golden era of pop via his debut space odyssey, Oh I Love That Song!

Knowing that there is no better feeling than falling head over ears for an infectiously funk-laden pop hit, the up-and-coming artist Misty Drinx brought about a brand-new era of electro-soul with the release of his debut single, Oh I Love That Song!

Going back to the golden era of pop via a space odyssey, the single sweeps you up in a nostalgic 80s atmosphere, constructed by the oscillating synth lines, polyphonic keys and swathes of reverb that aid the transcendent euphoria of Oh I Love That Song!

Lyrically, the single may pay an ode to the feeling of hearing a song and wishing you wrote it, but the sentiment will undoubtedly be the same from the moment you greet the melodious earworm. We’re already stoked to hear the sophomore hit from Drinx now he’s found his euphonic calling.

Skinny G Radio reached the pinnacle of existential humour with his alt-electro hit, Unplug Me!

Unplug Me! is just one of the eccentrically disarming alt-electronica singles found on Skinny G Radio’s funky 8-Bit album, The Heightening. The tongue-in-cheek exposition on the perils of social media in the age when fear and hate are relentlessly pushed to keep us transfixed to platforms is an all too efficacious reminder that we should consume media not the other way around.

Instead of letting the doom and gloom from the lyrical messaging control the track, the LA artist and producer utilises his on-brand sense of existential humour to give back some of the serotonin stripped by doom-scrolling. The playful polyphonic synth sequences make delving back in for repeat listens all too tempting. Can someone protect Skinny G Radio at all costs, please? He’s ingeniously precious.

Unplug Me! is now available to stream on Spotify.

FunkEnergy brings the Funk-filled Break Beats with “Beautiful Liar”

Italian artist and producer FunkEnergy made their most entrancing contribution to the Big Beat scene yet with their 2020 EP ‘Red Lips’ which dropped on October 14th via UPUK Records.

With snappy breakbeats bringing a solid structure to the exuberantly dynamic standout track ‘Beautiful Liar’, you can’t help but get into the groove with the up-vibe rhythms.

The fact that FunkEnergy was able to create a high-vibe track about infidelity makes me love him even more. The cheeky playfulness resonates all throughout the mix which you’ll definitely want to give plenty of repeat attention to. The production boasts a massive sound, but it is still easier than breathing to slip into. Naturally, we can’t wait to hear what comes next.

COULOU – Mr. Nobody: Electro Funk Just Got Fresher

If you’re looking for a smooth and soulful new addition to your playlists, look no further than COULOU’s latest single “Mr. Nobody” ft Khay.

The slick production on the single not only gives it a radio-ready feel. How Mr. Nobody came together makes the single as easy to slip into as your current favourite Funk-inspired artist who seamlessly blends acoustic instrumentals with inventive digital effects.

The subtle Swing Jazz elements which are incorporated into the otherwise contemporarily visceral mix give Mr. Nobody that extra distinctive edge – not that there are many breaking artists right now putting together such organically textured mixes which act as aural nutrition for the soul.

COULOU’s vocals were one thing, but what female vocalist Khay brought to the table was something else entirely – which cans of Macy Gray will definitely agree with.

Dream Hill – Galaxy Girl: Conceptually Compelling Hits High on Electro Funk Hype

https://youtu.be/1ikRcF1j_MI

Dream Hill has jumped on the Electro Funk hype with his latest hit Galaxy Girl, first released on March 12, 2018. Galaxy Girl pertains one of the strongest basslines in a Pop track that I’ve ever heard. In parts the bass is so powerful it almost seems out of place in the Pop plasticity of the track, but somehow it works. Even if you are more drawn to the bass than you are the vocals. Dream Hill’s vocal style is typical of the Contemporary Synth Pop genre, which you’re either going to love or hate. Yet, no one can be against Southern California singer Dream Hill’s adorable admission that showing vulnerability isn’t a sign of weakness, it shows honesty and courage. After reading that line, I couldn’t help but find a new affinity with his sound.
