Grime icon in the making, Jacob Briggs, has released a dizzying drop with ‘Bothered’.

Amalgamating the fiercest elements of trap, grime and drill, the UK icon in the making, Jacob Briggs, created a juggernaut of a hit with his latest single, Bothered, which officially dropped on December 9th.

Proving that grime hasn’t lost its flavour since Wiley gave us a taste in the early 00s, Bothered exhibits Briggs’ dizzying flow, which doesn’t sacrifice the lyrical content which puts to shame the archetypes built in the industry since it dawned.

The electronic music producer and creative artist started his sonic journey inspired by RnB and hip hop acts before creating his own rhythm-riding sonic signature that packs enough fervour to make your head spin. Watch this space before Briggs tears through it with the force of a lyrical tornado.

Papijay Fresh & YTN Tee brought drill to the streets of New York with KILLY

Papijay Fresh brought drill to the streets of New York in his blazing track, KILLY, featuring the blazing UK rapper YTN Tee. The 19-year-old rap artist arrived in the US from the Dominican Republic at the age of ten. But the roots of his heritage haven’t been left behind in his atmospheric sound. He raps in his native language, throwing a little Spanish and English lexicon into his hooky high-fire rap bars that are the epitome of dynamic fluidity.

In the span of his career, he’s had his pick of distro deals, working with the likes of Urban Grind and many more along the way. If that wasn’t enough to assert his credibility, he was offered the opportunity to open for Ghostface and when he appeared on Atlantic Records’ radar with his juggernautic hard hitters, it wasn’t long before he had their seal of approval.

His universally electric vibe ensures that even if his staunch fanbase can’t translate every lyric, they still fall under his viscerally versatile spell. Watch this space before Papijay Fresh dominates it.

Malta rapper Rheez. holds no prisoners in his sophomore single, PTSD

After a successful debut, new wave rap artist and producer Rheez. boldly blazed in with his sophomore single PTSD. If any track has the power to affirm just why so many people are losing their sanity lately, it’s this stormer of a grime and alt-hip hop cocktail.

The intro is an efficacious hook into the Malta-based artist’s candid track that holds no prisoners when picking out the most disparaging facets of our human existence. With lines such as “dad on the phone saying son they can’t clone you” and “Shout out to the internet champions, TikTok is your only throne” put up against each other, Rheez. tears through our obsession with superficiality and tendency to turn a blind eye to the real issues.

Rheez. may claim that he is turning nothing into something with his music, making humility another attractive aspect of his artistic presence. But his willingness to hold humanity accountable and speak out so convictively on one of the most stigmatised conditions known to man makes him equally as important as any of the overhyped artists with vacuous premises for their tracks.

For his latest release, hip hop writer, mixer, and producer, Twivee, collaborated with new wave pioneer Jay Will to create a stormer of an impassioned alt hip hop hit. GODLIKE is enough to leave you feeling pious to the aggravatedly experimental talent.

The bass is just about enough to rival the wild energy that carouses through Twivee’s rap bars that are rampant with hook-filled cursive. The UK artist’s intensity has already been lauded across the board, and he’s become a firm favourite of BBC Introducing with his truly authentic hard-hitting sound. It’s all too easy to see why.

UK Rapper JPOW comes in with all guns blazing in ‘Socially Anti’, featuring Kirsty Clarke

For his latest release, Socially Anti, rapper and songwriter JPOW teamed up with Kirsty Clarke, who brought a breath-taking dynamic to this hard and fast hit. Her folkishly light vocal timbre and innocently soulful yet sharp style was the perfect contrast against JPOW’s dominant bars that affirm he takes no prisoners when he steps to the mic.

Without a doubt, the South Coast-hailing UK independent artist is one of the hottest new names in the UK rap scene. He takes the usual lyrical rap tropes and runs them through his scathing wit. As for the instrumentals, you would be hard-pressed to find a bolder mix of tone and texture. With the melodic reminiscences to Cosmo Shelldrake and the quivering classical notes around the snappy bass-drenched beats, Socially Anti is as cinematic as it is galvanising.

Get high with Adubs’ debut alt-hip hop album, The Come Up.

After his successful Halloween debut, the alt hip-hop luminary Adubs has dropped his dynamic debut album, The Come Up. In the opening track, Any Means, his relentlessly enigmatic rap bars groove to dark drill beats. The release takes a melancholic turn with track two, Baddie, which delivers pure spoken-word indie hip hop poetry over mellow RnB melodies.

Track three, featuring Gutta, brings the tempo back up and infuses hard-hitting electronica elements – showing yet another facet to Adubs’ endless stream of ingenuity that flows right through the album. The Come Up reaches visceral heights in the confrontationally direct track, I Promise, which exhibits the best of Adubs’ dynamic flow and ability to squeeze new meanings from words in a time when they can feel so meaningless.

Bandklann Deed delivers gritty high-vibe hip hop in his seminal hit, Pop My Shit.

Judging by his seminal single, breaking US indie hip hop artist Bandklann Deed is on the rise with his grimy drill beats and even grittier lyrics. ‘Pop My Shit’ is a dark trappy hit that epitomises hustler hip hop to its core while still unravelling as fresh.

The enigmatic dominance drips with every clever lyrical blow as the old school instrumental style makes its best attempt to leave you adrenalised by the high-fire hit. Hint, it definitely succeeds. He may have an indie status, but that definitely doesn’t resound in the production quality of Pop My Shit. Hear it, and it will be in your head for days.
